Moody journey with minimal lyrics. Good use of a variety of instruments that made the album interesting.
Hotel California-of course! Spent my childhood avoiding this song because it was playing during a trauma for my mom. I like it but definitely a song of mixed ties.
New Kid in Town is chill. Gets a bit slow at the end. Lost interest around min 4.
The second version of Wasted Time that is all orchestral is A+.
Pretty Maids all in a row-boring balad.
Overall a solid album. Chill listening. Good crowd pleaser.
Prince always makes me think of my friend Sarah (English) and of the gym. They play a lot of Prince.
I don't really like when songs open or close with talking
I don't need Prince screaming at me in The Beautiful Ones.
Good guitar and overall good songs.
I liked Darling Nikki.
When Doves Cry plays at the gym all the time. The throaty opening sounds like something that Ryan would play for me in the car.
Purple Rain doesn't do much for me but it's a classic.
Love Bob Dylan so I was excited to get this album.
Really love Tangled Up in Blue.
The beauty of Bob Dylan is that he isn't even a very good singer. But he is so influential and hits a lot of good stuff in his lyrics.
Simple Twist of Fate is a classic demo if the blues-y folk rock sound of Bob Dylan.
Great storytelling in Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts
Shelter from the Storm is wonderful and classic.
In conclusion, A+ album. I like Bob Dylan.
Yay! Also love Simon & Garfunkel.
The transition from Bookends Theme to Save the Life of My Child made me jump! STLOMC is funky and fun. Lots going on.
America is a great song and popular for a reason.
I've mentioned on other reviews that I don't really like the random talking portions or ambient conversation additions to tracks. But Voices of Old People is certainly the way to charm me into it.
Love the whistling in Punky's Dilemma. Similarly, great upbeat instrumentals in A Hazy Shade of Winter.
Mrs. Robinson is classic and beloved.
They do a lot with their music with minimal complexity. Simple sound. Simple stories. Pleasant listening.
This was unexpected but I'm liking it. Upbeat , groovy, happy listening.
I like Let's Start
Drifted off from listening and got distracted with cooking so I never finished it.
Know R.E.M. is popular but I'm not actually sure how familiar I am with their music.
Standard rock sound. Strongly dislike the "harmonization" or whatever you'd call it at the beginning of Welcome to the Occupation.
It's the End...is a great song and a classic for a reason. Same with The One I Love. Also don't care for Oddfellows Local 151.
I enjoyed King of Birds.
Overall a really mixed experience for me. Some songs I liked, some fine, some I really didn't like.
Oh boy. I don't know what year this is actually from but this feels very classic 90s/early 2000s.
Can't Truss It is a good , boppy, tune.
I Don't Wanna Be Called Yo Niga is fun and has good guitar added .
I am not a big rap/hip hop fan but I'm liking this because it's also rock-y
I like the title "How to Kill A Radio Consultant"
Liked this more than I would have guessed. Probably not getting added onto my playlist but good to go into something and be pleasantly surprised.
I haven't heard much of this album before but it's good. I know people love The Who and I like some of their songs but overall-real good sound.
Pinball Wizard is obviously great.
This album is WICKED LONG. Like so long. It's good but it's losing my attention since I'm also doing other things while listening. A more focused 45min listen is possible but 2-3hrs isn't.
We're Not Gonna Take It started out good and then got boring.
I'm on the live portions now and I quit. Overall seems like I generally like The Who's sound but this just got too long
Adele is for grieving.
I wouldn't listen to Adele for casual listening. Some of the upbeat songs maybe but not ever my choice. I do recognize her talent and powerful voice though.
Today was the day that I learned "Set Fire to the Rain" are the lyrics being said in this song.
I'll Be Waiting has anthem vibes. It's upbeat and fun.
This album is a sad ballad salad.
The instrumentals on Lovesong have a Latin type feel to them which I like. But the song itself is slow and meh.
Someone Like You IS good. Really hits during heartbreak and still great when all is well.
Bitter Sweet Symphony is excellent as always.
Sonnet is chill and groovy.
Catching the Butterfly is cool. Good noise/ metal type style elements.
Overall really good sound. I like this style. Very solid late 90s/ early 2000s rock/pop sound. I would add this to a playlist today. Very enjoyable and a sound I really enjoy listening to.
Smells Like Teen Spirit is great. It does not remind me of the ads for Pan (which I liked so it's fine).
Everyone likes Nirvana, right? Rock classic.
There were definitely songs on this album I'd never heard or haven't heard much, which was fun. All fitting the Nirvana sound.
What poor kid got photographed for this album cover? Where is he at now?
I like the "WaOHwaOHwaOH" kinda sound in the beginning of Breed.
Lithium is good. Angsty. Polly feels like a rock n roll dad reading you a bedtime story. On A Plain is a good play on words. Terretorial Pissings is an excellent title.
Stay Away really resonated with how I felt at work today. Let me shout that out to all the homies here.
I like the Endless, Nameless screamo/metal style. Hearkens back to my high school days.
I like that Spotify took me to Green Day when this album ended too. :) Great flow.
Country! Yes! I feel vindicated that country made it into the top albums and am very pleased y'all have to listen to a whole country album. :)
Love this. Classic old country style. Reminds me of home and of my grandparents.
Simple guitar, great vocals, and lyrical story telling.
Love some of the deep, low, vocals in The Weatherman.
She Told Me So is sweet/ sad and confusing. I really like the chorus but I don't fully grasp the larger story.
I like the lyrics for Our Private Life.
I enjoyed this. Great sound, great lyrics, a journey back in time a bit in the country genre and I liked it.
There are better country songs and potentially albums as a whole. I'm not sure this whole album would get added to a playlist for me but some songs definitely will.
I like this style of rock/metal but only ever listened to a few select Alice in Chains songs. It was fun to listen through the album.
First listen was multitasking while cooking with Ryan and I liked it. Listening more focussed today and still like.
Starts off strong right away with Them Bones. Some of the bands most popular songs are from this album.
Would? Is good. I like Sickman too.
Overall good vibes. I really liked this album. Cohesive sound and some changes. Solid hard rock/metal listen.
I listen to some jazz and know Miles Davis is a classic but not actually familiar.
So What is making me feel stressed.
I enjoyed Freddie Freeloader way more. This is the vibe I like. Chill , background, jazz. Also-fun name. It did get back into crazy sax for a bit though. But that's jazz.
Blue in Green opens and closes with piano which is fun. I also believe the opening is a muted trumpet , which is fun.
Overall good background music. Not my favorite jazz but very talented musician. I enjoyed the album but listening straight did lose me after a while
Tightened Up is very good. The vibe, chill lyrics, great sound.
Howlin' For You has that classic backtrack that is used in a lot of movies.
She's Long Gone has feel. Good passion. Great guitar.
This album is a great demonstration of what I know The Black Keys to sound like.
I enjoyed it.
Excited to get this album. I have never taken time to listen to ELO with much intention.
Turn to Stone has a Queen-esque sound to it and it kicks this album off well. Actually a lot of this has a Queen-like sound to me. They are both 70s British rock bands so I guess that may be why.
This is so good! I'm really liking this upbeat, fun, sound!
Across the Border has a space alien sound and also some classic Mariachi/Mexican sound. Interesting blend! Night in the City's old video game/city traffic intro is cool.
I like the deep voice in the background that comes through with Starlight and Jungle. Jungle is so upbeat and fun-makes me wanna dance. Also Mr. blue Sky is on here, which is obviously great.
I think this is the first album of this exercise that I've listed to over headphones and I think it made a difference in the experience. I may try to do that more often.
I really enjoyed this album.
I started this yesterday and got bored. I started again this morning to rate and am still not really clicking with it. It's not unpleasant but I don't think it's all that good.
The album artwork is very interesting, to say the least.
Shabby Doll and Pidgen English feel like they could have been good but are somehow boring.
The Long Honeymoon has some good sound. It appears to be the second most popular song on the album so that make sense. Gives travel vibes.
I don't know what it is about this album. It's not bad musically but I feel SO BORED.
I don't love that this appears to be a live album, at least at first. BUT what killer album artwork.
Looking for the Perfect Beat is so...funky. All of this is. I like Renegades of Funk a lot (for what it is).
This music was fair. Not really my style but totally fine to listen to and fun at some points. A good push to try something more "out of my comfort zone" that I normally probably would have skipped.
So far out of my normal listening zone but someone I know if very notable.
It's funny to see the songs named how our "slang" and IM language used to be. We've progressed a lot in that realm. Away from "wit" and the use of z's.
Deeez Nuuuts! Is this the source of that??
This seems like it is probably very good for it's style. It's not a style of music I'm super familiar with or would necessarily listen to on my own. But it's well made, chill, and engaging.
Bummer and interesting that this doesn't work on Spotify but I found a YouTube playlist to listen.
I know some Joni Mitchell songs but only in passing-she has a good voice and this album is a good blend of casual listening but still upbeat and interesting enough to remain engaging.
Down to You is a well orchestrated song. Raised on Robbery is upbeat and fun. I liked Trouble Child.
Twisted is jazzy and is different from the rest of the album. What a fun way to wrap it up.
