I felt that this album, even though some songs on their own are good, couldn't quite find it's place in the genre and is not enticing or connected enough for me to properly enjoy it. Just seems all over the place and not really my style, enjoyed Pale Blue Eyes but that was it
This album was a part of my childhood, father and uncles are hug Led Zeppelin fans so it was ever present. The arrangements and ups and downs are calculated to make you feel what they want. The album starts in a haze with Black Dog and Rock and roll to get you hyped up, then some slower songs to keep things mellow and closing out with a banger. One of if not the best Led Zeppelin album
Reggae is not my style but the album is very well built, the lyrics tell a good story and it's easy to understand
All instruments have a good volume, bass lines are very good, the beats are good, vocals are good, just the style is not my type,
Can't rate the album low because I have to admit it is very well built
First song is very catchy but once you go on the rhythm starts getting repetitive, but that's just reggae I guess
War pigs, best introduction to an album you can have,
Paranoid is a good but basic song, a classic
Planet caravan really surprised me, it's really far apart from the rest of the songs but it's comforting in its own way
The next few songs are more of the same from before, but the intensity and quality of sound is absurd for its time, I guess this album shows that if you the simple things right you can also create something great, there aren't overly complex solos or intricate baselines, but the instruments all work very well together and do their job perfectly
Still to this day Iron Man has the most surprising story being told in the lyrics that few people seem to notice
Great album, not the best but maybe if it weren't for this one we wouldn't have the heavy metal scene that we have today
I love the sci-fi sounds the songs have, it always seems like music from another planet
The intro to the album had me going back to my teenage years, when you could sit in your room and just listen to music, no worries in the world. if you want a good experience I recommend blending the endings with beginnings of the next song
Starlight is more nostalgic, the lyrics hit me in the stomach and make me feel happy, the main course is very soothing, feels like medicine for me
Supermassive black hole, in my top 5 most listened songs for sure, it's silly but in the right proportion, the vocals are great, the tone is amazing, the instruments are on point, for me it's the sound, not the song, if that makes sense.
Map of the problematique follows their concept of vocals in canon for the main parts, the instruments each have strong points, the mini solos for drums and electric piano are very nice touches, as always his voice is very pleasant and it's exactly my type of sound, at the 3:00 mark is the perfect example
Soldiers poem takes a long walk around the park in regards to the rest of the songs, it's still very pleasant but reminds me to much of hallelujah in terms of guitar chords
Invincible feels like a national anthem, in my opinion it takes a while to start up, and then it continues sounding like an anthem, good but far from the best
Assassin is that song that my whole life I've been questioning where I know it from, now I found out, the intro is hectic in a good way but I thought that the rest of the song didn't quite follow up to that, very "loud" song, I like it, just thought it had more potential
City of delusions take on a kinda western approach, maybe preparing us for the high point of the album?
The strings in the song give it a different tone, drum lines also are starting to get more present and impactful,
Knights of cydonia, feels like you're actually riding a horse battling an invasion, I want to stand up and punch something (sorry Andre you're the closest) just because this song hypes me up so much
I love this album, when I was 15 years old it would be a 5 no doubt, but I've heard more music, I know it's worth and it's a solid 4 for me, it's great, but not perfect
As an above average Metallica fan, nothing like some of my friends (I'm talking about you), I find this album a good remembrance to what they once were, a hard hitting, down to earth band, without many innovations and unnecessary elements in their songs.
Enter sandman I can't stand to hear it anymore, but it is one of, if not the most well known song that Metallica has, very catchy tunes and lyrics
Sad but true very hard song, hits you in the face and you're happy about it
Holier then thou took longer than I liked to actually begin giving you something but nonetheless good song
Wherever I may roam, very good feeling intro solos, the instruments alone are very relaxing and start preparing you for what's to come
Don't tread on me, not my style, can't tell you why actually
Same for trough the never, maybe these songs are a little repetitive for my taste
The others songs I hadn't heard in a long time, was good to reminisce and the nostalgia was good, but unfortunately time didn't do well for these songs
If I was comparing Metallica albums it would be a 4, not my favorite, but in the bigger context it's a 5 when compared to the whole scope of music.
Nice Hip-hop beats, I'm not really a fan of this style of music but I've listened to some of the more famous guys,
I liked some songs, but nothing to special for me, if you stop and think about the time frame it's really remarkable that a female singer could grow to fame in the heavily dominated scene by men
The songs feel impactful and the lyrics carry a message, but not my style, I'll grade it according to importance and relevance to the hip-hop scene and not just my style of songs,
I heard it on my commute to work and the songs just didn't deliver anything, they weren't bad but also not good, they felt like background music and after giving it some considerate thought, this album is great to play if you just want something in the background
The XX has one other song that is quite famous and is in my liked songs "The intro" but it's just instrumental and electronic
The lyrics of this album were quite sub par and the rhymes also are pretty bad,
It's good to hear if you don't want to get distracted in traffic and etc, but not an everyday listen,
David Bowie was an icon, no discussion in that, but for what reasons? His approach to life? His audacity? Or his music?
I'm not the biggest fan of his music, just some songs that I think combine beauty with elegance, sound with love and so on.
This album had some songs that were very different but you can also tell its bowie, never to far from himself.
Nonetheless, I found it to hectic, even for David, it's a good album, with good combinations and story telling, but the songs are all over the place
First song felt like something from yoshis island mixed with terraria, really repetitive, can't really understand what they are saying, lyric wise. First song is kinda strange, not my thing
Second song has a nice intro, but the first words of the song being it's name just seems lazy for me, the songs are very mellow and calm, but repetitive
I'm getting sleepy from hearing these songs, maybe if you like the beatles and those types of bands this one can bring some feeling of "something new" in regards to the calm rock style, but I just can't listen to it for an extended period of time.
When it started I was expecting something completely different then what came, it's more blues then heavy obviously, but I preferred this type of blues over the traditional, the vocals are very present but not taking anything away from the instruments
I like short albums, the bands are down to business and are no bullshiters, they get the job done with few songs.
Shine on you crazy diamond more like shine on you crazy long ass song,
But still it's great, pink floyd has a great story telling feature with the instruments, sounds and delays for the actual lyrics and song to start
Welcome to the machine and Have a cigar remind me of their more rock approach to music, the same as Money from Dark Side of the Moon
Crazy diamond part 6 - 100000 is also great, good outro for the album, also calm but energetic in pink floyd style,
This is a band that if I had the opportunity to watch them live I'd take without thinking twice. Been listening to them my whole life and this album is one of the few 5/5 that I have, together with the likes of Led Zeppelin and Metallica
Black Sabbath as always is just filled with absolute bangers, while the style changes drastically in the song Changes, you can still feel the same intensity from Ozzy and Tony.
The main difference that I felt between this one and Paranoid is that Paranoid began with War Pigs and for me nothing else came close to that in the rest of the album, while this one started mellow and grew, giving a great performance all in all.
If I could I would grade this one 4.5 stars because I liked it more than paranoid but it's not perfect for me.
