Absolute bangin album. Kiwanuka's Ugandan influences really shine through in the central african timbre, and riffs in the guitar. His rock, soul, and rnb influences are also so evident. Parts of the album felt modern, parts felt like I was listening to a classic psychedelic funk album.

I respect the history and importance of both the clash (the band) and this album. HOWEVER, this album really just did not do it for me. It’s possible that it’s so foundational that to modern ears it just sounds regular. Do to it’s history I’d give it a 4/5 but on pure listening I give it a 3/5
