My Generation by The Who
Nov 22 2023

50/50, blues tracks kind of suck or are weird pastiche copycat nonsense, the more british invasion rock tracks are actually quite good and obviously the kids are alright and my generation are classic; the Ox is a surprisingly fun closer and sort of interesting given where they'd go in the future

Dookie by Green Day
Nov 23 2023

Nostalgic but aside from the singles and a few deep cuts like Burnout surprisingly inert. I liked it a lot less than I expected to, and I'm really surprised that I thought their later albums were such a turn towards a flat pop aesthetic when it's sort of always been their bag and the difference is pretty minimal, all things considered. I think in the intervening years since this came out my taste has broadened to such an extent that when compared to something like Discharge or Drive Like Jehu, the deviation in rawness between this and American Idiot seems vanishingly small.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Nov 24 2023

Pretty great, more introspective and truly melancholy than I expected from Ozzy. One of the only classic Sabbath records I haven’t spent much time with, maybe I should rectify that.

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Nov 27 2023

Another debut album by what would become one of Britain’s rock ‘n’ roll greats completely larded up by a couple of awful, wannabe, white boy blues garbage tracks. The fact that you shook me is sandwiched between babe I’m gonna leave you and dazed and confused is one of the worst crimes in Led Zeppelin‘s entire career, statutory rape, not withstanding.

1984 by Van Halen
Nov 28 2023

Tough album to rate because the singles are pure unfuckwithable gold and the album tracks range from meh to terrible. Like really bad.

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Nov 29 2023

It’s fun! Also nice to know the common origin of chooglin’. Not mind blowing or anything but there’s some good tracks and zero stinkers. Born on a bayou is a classsic.
