Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Nov 28 2023

Rap and hip hop rarely appeal to me and this was no exception, although I do appreciate Biggie’s flow. The interludes of conversation, sloppy oral sex, rough sex, gunshots, etc tended to jar me out of the groove/beat of the last song, which I didn’t appreciate but I think was probably the point as all the interludes emphasized the content of the previous or upcoming song.

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Nov 29 2023

Enjoyable and groovy if perhaps a little shorter than I expected it to be. I didn’t catch any riffs that felt like ear worms, so no tracks stood out as favorites but could be due to me working out while listening. 7-8/10, would listen again.

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Nov 30 2023

Thanks to Running Up That Hill having a resurgence in popularity, I actually knew a song of this album! 7/10. Really appreciated Jig of Life 🇮🇪 and some of the tracks that had an ethereal, slightly creepy feel to them.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Dec 01 2023

It’s Sabbath. I was bound to enjoy it at least a bit.

Heroes by David Bowie
Dec 03 2023

Not my favorite Bowie, but a fun album to explore

Dec 04 2023

I appreciate the funkiness of West coast rap and hip hop more than the jazzy/bluesy feels of East coast, the rhythm suits me better I suppose. I enjoy Ice Cube’s flow and lyrics, even the juxtaposition of dark subject matter alongside danceable beats

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Dec 05 2023

The first few songs had me thinking, “Huh, I wonder why I never really got into Depeche Mode…” but the rest of the album answered that. This is the kind of album I would -maybe- put on as background music for a creative session of writing or drawing….only if I already had a lot of sentences or scenes in my head and didn’t want to get distracted by the soundtrack. None of the songs made me feel any kind of way except Moonlight Sonata, and they didn’t write that.

Dec 07 2023

Yes!!! Never listened to this album in its entirety and glad I have now. This album is perfect for metal heads in the gym, needing a little extra growl to get through that last rep.

Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams
Dec 08 2023

Liked this way more than I expected. I’m not sure if Ryan was an inspiration for Jack White, but I felt like I could hear Jack taking some root in songs like Shakedown on 9th Street. Great lyrics and the kind of guitar playing that really makes you want to pick up an acoustic guitar and struggle through gaining your first calloused fingertips for the sake of learning to play.

GREY Area by Little Simz
Dec 09 2023

Love the flow and poetry on display here. Cheers to the London rap and hip hop scene
