1001 Albums Summary

5/10. Not my cup of tea but listening made me appreciate how much modern pop music is inspired by Prince.

Obnoxious, but in a fun honest poppy way. These songs are way older than I thought.

Excellent, lots of variety. Listening puts me in a good place. I can imagine the sensation this must have been when it came out.

Smoove. Catchy. Interesting all the way through.

Muse built a world. I like to be there sometimes.

Songs I've heard of from an artist I've never heard of. Some fun songs here with lyrics that hit home, but ultimately kind of a boring listen.

Enjoyed the hits. Listening feels like watching a movie. When it rocks, it really rocks. Much of the rest was hard to get into.

Emo vulgarcore. What a blast from the past. The last time I saw this album it was probably in a cracked CD case on somebody's brother's car floor.

Cultural phenomenon. Hadn't listened through before...some dark stuff in here. The real shady. I enjoyed it.

Funky. Soulful. Some songs are jams. Some are nearly unlistenable.

Hadn't given these guys the time they deserved before this listen through. It's a vibe. Melancholic. Enjoyed it and was definitely impressed by how much they must have inspired many of the bands I like that came after.

Slam bang crash mumble shred. Pearl Jam has a sonic formula that works for me. Not sure why early 90s PJ gets put in the same bucket as Nirvana. A much bigger rock sound.

Sounds like someone had fun in their basement putting this one together.

I like David Byrne's ideas about the world and always wanted to like his music more. Some good ones in here that make my head bob, but much of the rest is frenetic filler for me.
