I love this! It reminds me of a bygone era that I see only from the rearview window, looking back to my childhood and the older people in my life who would have listened to this. I don't even have family who listened to Sinatra, but I picture Central Park in spring, fedoras and whispers of the Mafia, and cool, neon-blue, smoky night clubs with waiters in tuxedos serving martinis.
He is a legend. There isn't any other way to put it.
First-time listener. Sounds good for days when you're feeling existential angst and non-specific disgust at the Establishment (whatever that is in your own mind). Are the lyrics really as deep and symbolic as all the reviews and comments (on a variety of music websites) suggest or are some folks attributing rich meaning to ambiguous lyrics when the meaning is much more simple? Either way, I'm all for it--the musical process is important and valuable to everyone in different ways. It's just not an album I'd listen to again.
Not my kind of listen.
Listening to this album as a young teenager is where I first learned what "the rabbit died" meant. Ah, memories!
Some of the tracks are interestesing.
It's impossible to give an unbiased review of music that one loves from childhood. It's the kind of songwriting that sets the bar for the rest of your life and makes it hard for others to measure up.
Yes. Get you some of this riot goin' on and clean the house.
This music is from an age when music was well written at every level and in every aspect: lyrics, instrumentals, voice, content--before songs and tunes became entries in formulas and more focused on image instead of musical craft. These "old five-and-dimers," Cash, Jennings, Nelson, and so many others are legends for music like this.

Excellent positive hip-hop vibe. Love it.
