1001 Albums Summary

Surprised by how much I liked it. Sounded like inspiration for GnR Appetite for Destruction. Without heavy metal imagery, album doesn’t sound that heavy.

High production value, but most songs sound very similar. Didn’t really notice as the album played on - felt like one long, overdriven, basic power chord rock. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Admired the neoclassical guitar riffs and appreciated the technical prowess. Beyond that, I was resisting the mantra in my head: “make it end, please, make it end.”

Ugh. This is the first album I couldn’t finish. Beautiful, poetic lyrics. Accessible, everyman voice. Incredible songwriter. But just too depressing for me right now.

What a fun discovery. Loved almost every song.

Loved Hungry Like a Wolf and a couple others, but this genre just doesn’t resonate with me. Synths and drum machines feel soulless.

Amazing rock anthems that made me feel like a wasted teenager all over again. Massive guitar riffs, creative song structures and novel recording techniques. Truly a groundbreaking work.

Fun, easy, accessible stoner rock. I love that J Mascis is comfortable being exactly who is - pitchiness and all!
