I don’t know what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn’t that. I haven’t honed an appreciation for jazz music yet, but this was an enjoyable listen! If I’m being honest, all of the songs sound the same to me… But it’s great music to play while I work.
This album had the same feel as the one I was given yesterday, but each song felt more unique. I think the guitar brought familiarity and diversity to each song. Definitely good music to work to!
Quintessential 60s pop music. Reminds me of The Beatles. Some songs reminded me of Rocky Horror Picture Show (even though the movie came out well after this album).
This has never been a genre I’ve gravitated towards, but I can’t deny it’s easy to listen to.
This is definitely a more familiar genre to me. The music was awesome, but I’m docking it for being a live album. I couldn’t hear anything they were saying between songs.
This album was the least compelling of the jazz albums I have heard so far. The songs all blended together and felt much too long.
The music was very simple, and I can see why people like it. It just wasn’t for me. It reminded me of Johnny Cash (I don’t like Johnny Cash) but worse.
I liked this well enough. Classic 80s metal.
This was a fun listen. The songs with Gilberto’s vocals were my favorite. This is the first album that had a true earworm on it. The Girl From Ipanema was stuck in my head.
This album was generally a fun listen. I really liked the music and the flow.
A few songs did offend my feminine gen-z sensibilities (Girls, Girls, Girls)
I also found Song Cry a bit grating (and the “yeah, yeah, yeahs” reminded me of that one James Charles meme 😩).
Also, I know it’s because he’s from New York, but I hate how he doesn’t pronounce the “r” on words like “adore” and “tour.”
I really wanted to like this album, I really did. I tried to tap into my artsy fartsy side, but I just couldn’t do it.
The first two songs sound like a video game soundtrack, or the interlude in a coming-of-age musical.
Then, we get something that sounds like it came from the Calm app… which almost sold me on the album, ngl.
BUT all is ruined by the 4th song which sounds like one of those AI edits of Helen Keller covering 2000s rock songs.
Finally, the album closes out with 9 minutes of the same drum beat over and over again.
I really dug this album. I listened to it all the way through twice. It felt somewhere in between the glam metal of the 80s and the grunge of the 90s. Right up my alley.
This reminded me of yacht rock! I love yacht rock. I also appreciated that every song was so different. It kept the album fresh and interesting.
I’m not sure why, but I’ve never really listened to Bruce Springsteen, and I assumed the genre of this album would have more or a classic rock feel. But omg it’s so 80s pop and I love it.
Such smooth and groovy music. Really enjoyable listen. Marvin has an amazing voice.
I know U2 is very well regarded, but I can’t get past how much Bono sounds like Matt Farley. 😩 Good music, good songwriting, just not necessarily for me.
If I’m being honest, this was far too alt and artsy for me. It wasn’t completely unlistenable, but I didn’t enjoy it.
The front half of the album was awesome. I truly have not enjoyed enough David Bowie in my lifetime. I was definitely thrown by how interlude-heavy the back half of the album was. For that reason, I am docking a point.
This album was objectively, really good. It had sick ass guitar solos, fun big-band horn sections, and a diversity of rhythm and sound. But, I’m a Gen-Z with a short attention span, and the songs are LONG. Long with very few lyrics.
Unfortunately, subjectively, I would give it a 3. But objectively it’s definitely a 5.
