This was the perfect album to start this journey with as Bob Marley is someone I hold a great deal of respect for but have avoided actually listening to most of my life. There's an entire obnoxious culture industry built around him, like many great artists and thinkers, that strips away any actual meaning and message of there work in favor of something easily marketable (in this instance, phone cases for the most annoying stoner you knew in middle school). That aside, this was a great introduction to his music. It will require a few lessons and a deeper research to understand the full meaning behind a few of the songs but in general it conveys some very strong emotions. As much as i hate to resort to a word like 'vibe' already, it really is the thing that comes to mind when listening to this. This is music from a man who believed in a better world and you can feel it genuinely trhough the songs. Wish i had more to say but reggae is obviously not my forte so I'll just say I'm happy to have already broadened my horizons.
