First time hearing this- enjoyed it, some awesome blues guitar. πΈπ΅ Favorite Track: Soubour
Simplicity with swagger. Avoids the overindulgence that characterizes a lot of Jack White's later work. Great Stripes record, but does drag a bit at times. Favorite Track: Fell In Love With A Girl (still can remember middle school Ricky watching MTV for hours waiting for the LEGO stop motion video)
An album that I thought was cool in high school because I was trying to be a hipster. Listening today.....so boring. Whispery vocals with minimalistic electronic instrumentation is the lamest and overdone thing in the indie scene today. Favorite Track: Intro
Best Beasties album. It's Leo pointing at the TV except it is actually just Ricky yelling out classic rock samples. Vinyl is definitely worth it for the production quality of this one. 4/5
The Cure >>>>> The Smiths Girlfriend in a Coma is great though.
I'm admittedly not the biggest U2 fan, but do enjoy this one. Mysterious Ways gets a star all on its own.
Some decent jams (of course the title track is an all-timer), but mostly reminded me of what a baseball organist listens to for inspiration.
I've always loved just how lush the sound is on this record (all Fleet Foxes records for that matter). The mashup of folk, psychedelic pop, and Laurel Canyon styling makes for some amazing camp fire/road trip/rainy day vinyl spinning (I disagree with you Stuart).
It is a shame it is mixed the way it is-- but I still love it.
