Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Apr 01 2024

Summary: angry white lad screams about absolutely nothing. There's simply too much angst and not enough talent. Incredibly overproduced and shallow- nothing raw or profound about it, it's like each song is copy and pasted- it's tiring to listen to. "Sad thoughts" and "bad memories"??? like okay?? I genuinely hated listening to this and would consider all the tracks "skips", yet in some ways I can understand why some like it- it was genre-defining but one I really can't get behind nonetheless. Surprisingly, what I believed to be their best track "cure for the itch" had the lowest amount of streams on spotify, but I wasn’t sure if I liked it more because the sweet sweet release of the end of the album was near. Still, if I wanted to hear trip-hop I'd listen to the real stuff, not this completely middle of the road tacky-sounding production. Because that's what this album sounds like to me- a production rather than actual music with soul.

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Apr 02 2024

yummy and soft- jazzy, bluesy and with a perfect fusion of rock and pop. It feels very beetlesque- and I'm just now discovering that he is considered "The american Beatle", being friends with both Starr and Lennon- theres definitely a huge semblance. Although each song is incredibly differentiated there's this commonality of each song being super smooth- possibly his vocals, or the production, or both. Either way this album is such an easy listen, thoroughly enjoyed. Favourites: "Without You", "Jump Into The Fire" skips: none

Eagles by Eagles
Apr 03 2024

a classic. not necessarily a good one but a classic! Its fine- easy enough to listen to and most of these songs I wouldn't necessarily bother to skip if they came on but nothing special really. I really hate take it easy though, its so overplayed and tedious to listen to. Overall it's actually pretty mid and boring yet super overhyped. Favourite: "witchy woman" skips: "take it easy", "take the devil"

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Apr 04 2024

I wouldn’t consider myself a jazz fanatic, and this album didn't seem too different from any of the other stuff i'd heard before. At first I thought "okay just your regular jazz-elevator music"- but by track five "tea for two" I was starting to get the hype. An album to make anything you do feel aesthetic- in my case lying in bed at 3pm on a wednesday- but I felt like I was transported into a scene of Pink Panther or Tom and Jerry. Personally, I will never opt for a live version over a studio recording but in this case, the atmosphere of the audience made the experience all the more electric- I really envied the audience. Overall, despite its length I really enjoyed this piece, although I think more intended to be listened to while doing something other than fantasising about being in whiplash- which I defs did NOT do. favourites: "Tea for Two", Jeeps Blues" skips: The introductions and announcements

Imagine by John Lennon
Apr 05 2024

I could not get over the whingeing and whining of lennon's vocals and lyrics- it made me want to turn it off entirely. that being said, there are definitely moments I loved, and I really enjoyed george's input with the guitar. The two last tracks actually made me cringe sooo bad \"how can i give love when i dont know how to give\"- yeah we know that one john. skips: \"how?\" favourites: \"jealous guy\" and \"how you do you sleep\"

Moving Pictures by Rush
Apr 06 2024

I love the cover art of this album but that's all really. Favourite: "YYZ" skips: "tom sawyer" "witch hunt"

Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys
Apr 07 2024

I kinda loved this though I wasn't really expecting to. But holy dooley there's a lot going on, ended up being a bit of a yawn because of how long it was with some songs that were just unnecessary. favourites: "we will not be lovers" "sweet thing" "bang on the ear" skips: "this land is your land" "carolan's welcome" "let me feel holy again" "meet me at the station" "rattle my bones and shiver my soul" "soon as i get home"

Apr 08 2024

Its decent. Doesn't do anything drastically or amazing different compared to similar artists of the time/genre. I definitely think there are better examples of the genre out there. favourites: \"gary gilmore's eyes\", \"no time to be 21\", \"great british mistake skips: all single edits and lives

The Score by Fugees
Apr 09 2024

favourites: "zealots", "fu-gee-la", "killing me softly with his song" skip: "mista mista"

Pink Flag by Wire
Apr 10 2024

I've listened to this album a few times now and I keep coming back to it. It does however become a little repetitive and I can't over-listen to punk or the vocals induce a headache. I hear a lot of elastica in it (or vice versa) which I love. For me mannequin is the obvious stand out- it sounds like it could’ve been made today by some indie band- well ahead of their time with that sound. favourites: "Three Girl Rhumba", "start to move", "Mannequin" skips: none

Feast of Wire by Calexico
Apr 11 2024

Is it OBJECTIVELY good? yes. Did I get bored? also yes. favourite: "Black Heart"

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Apr 12 2024

kinda mid favourites: "The magic number", "eye know", "buddy"

Manassas by Stephen Stills
Apr 15 2024

amazing playing- just started to feel like he was showing off eventually.

Country Life by Roxy Music
Apr 23 2024

fine, but roxy music has better albums and certainly better songs... favourite: "out of the blue"

Fred Neil by Fred Neil
