Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs
Apr 12 2024

on the better half of 2010s indie pop but not by much. It appears to be going for a melancholic or nostalgic tone but is simply did not work as being interesting to me. I also dont know what it is about modern vocal performances but few are in any way distinguishing so this sounds like any other indie pop artist. The arrangement was alright i guess but it is so unmemorable that i say that for sure. Anyway. Please male indie artists, stop trying to be Bob Dylan, even he struggled making that work.

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Apr 15 2024

oh yea baby that's where its at. Starting off with a nice grooving piano and jazz band accompaniment. Altogether a beautifully smooth journey of jazz. Will definitely relisted at some point.

Apr 17 2024

Man this one was fun. Listening to all the people loosing their mind in the audience is also very fun. A good vocal performance, nice accompaniment and if you enjoy classing 60s rock hes definitely a good choice.

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Apr 18 2024

This was a very melancholic album and that feeling is definitely maintained throughout. A lot of songs about loss of love and religion with Leonard Cohens poetic, almost spoken vocals accompanied by a layered but simple instrumentation. I enjoyed trying to focus on individual aspects of these songs such as the lyrics or music or beat which really demonstrate that a lot of thought went into arrangement and putting these songs together. Still, I think ill probably enjoy some of these songs more individually and removed from this album, or maybe re listening to it in a sadder mood. Giving this a rating was hard because i did enjoy elements but also definitely prefer other Cohen albums more but im gonna bump it to 4 stars.

Apr 22 2024

Sam cooke is one of those artists who has incredible charisma in his live performances. While nothing mind blowing, this was really fun and energetic performance and im always a sucker for live recordings where people are singing along.

Game changer album. Actually found that i enjoyed it a lot more on this relisted than the first time round. In a kinder world i was at the Trade Hall concert and started an obscure god awful band that's inevitable spiralling breakup led to criminal proceedings and which is held in high regard by 6 people worldwide. I guess what im saying is it should have been me and not morrissey

Our Aim Is To Satisfy by Red Snapper
Apr 25 2024

This was pretty funky. Nothing too spectacular but i enjoyed myself. This is probably more preferable as background music than anything else for me

Kenya by Machito
Apr 26 2024

im too tired to write a proper review but this was really nice... i love you afro jazz

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Apr 29 2024

unfortunately this wasnt really my thing :(. It was pretty competently made but ended up sounding very samesy for me with only one or two songs sticking out, though i did enjoy those. Idk im tired

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Apr 30 2024

Hell yea deep purple. Not personally a huge metal person but this was pretty fun and hit the spot. Unfortunately nothing too personally memorable though that probably has more to do with my unfamiliarity with metal than anything else. Would listen to while desperately completing an assignment at 11pm again.

Raw Power by The Stooges
May 01 2024

I need to relisted to this album on a day im not traveling and can blast it as loud as i want. Anyway, great album which still holds up despite the years and development in music. When will they remove my punk card for preferring post and proto punk to proper punk. Hopefully never

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
May 02 2024

A nice one to get back on the bandwagon with. Aretha Franklin's voice is really the highlight of this album and i especially enjoyed "chain of fools". While nothing outstanding its still a very enjoyable album.

Station To Station by David Bowie
May 06 2024

Really good album. Not my fav bowie album but its up there. Station To Station is probably my fav track but almost all of them really do it.

The Clash by The Clash
Mar 10 2025

This is a fun one. You can definitely hear things of whats to come, also at least to me the early influences of ska/reggae. At times a bit to samesy and probably not my favourite album of theirs but it was enjoyable :)).

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Mar 27 2025

Really good. Have been enchanted by the same titled track for years and glad i finally listened to the whole album. Very enjoyable and never getting too repetetive, just some really nice jazz

Black Monk Time by The Monks
Mar 28 2025

Oh this one was fun. A new find for me but one I'll definitely have to revisit, I love the energy on the tracks and the sound is interesting as a stepping stone between rock and early punk. The album managed to captivate me the whole way and never lost energy even while the sound remained largely the same. Enjoyed the wordplay in We Do Wie Du and Monk time as an intro to the album

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
Mar 31 2025

This one was interesting. The sound ended up feeling very contemporary rather than from the 80s, reminding me of some folk bands from the 2010s like AJJ or the Taxpayers. Previously i'd only known Blister in the sun but im glad i listened to this album and particularly enjoyed Kiss Off, Gone Daddy Gone, Good Feeling and Promise.

Apr 01 2025

I really like 90s hip hop and this didnt disapoint though unfortunately i probably still have more fondness for Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul. I quite enjoyed the incorperation of more classical instruments like pianos and strings in some of the songs and the general poetry of the lyrics is really good. CREAM was a particular standout and i also enjoyed the 7th chamber. I also think the pop culture references were really fun. Altogether a realy good album but probably not among my favourite hiphop albums. I was also really hungry while i listened to this so that may have affected my rating lol
