4.5. No half stars on here apparently. This is my first day of the 1001 greatest albums. I had never heard of Nick Drake or Bryter Layter before today, but i absolutely loved this album. The soft yet striking vocals and instrumentals really hit me. My favorite track was Hazey Jane I. I’ll be back tomorrow 🫡

Day 2/1001. Flat 4. The only reason i knew who otis redding was before today was because of watch the throne. Probably my favorite soul album i’ve heard to this point. I love otis’ unique sound and his almost adlibs? idk what to call them. Anyways, fire.

Day 3/1001. Flat 4. Familiar story again, as I had no idea who PJ Harvey was before today. Also, rock is one of my most unfamiliar genres, so i wasn’t sure i’d like this record, but i really did. PJ’s raspy but comforting voice compliments the gentle yet striking instrumentals. My favorite track was “the mess we’re in”.

Day 4/1001. Flat 4. I HAD heard of Gorillaz before today lol, in fact, they’re on my list to do a discography dive, but this was my intro into their work. Let me say, i’m definitely a fan. This was hard, and i love the groups art style too. My favorite track was “sound check”.

Day 5/1001. 3. I understand the appeal here, and i did enjoy it, but i think this album just caught me on the wrong day. “the beat” was my favorite track.

6/1001. This fire. I definitely see its influence on gambino’s “awaken, my love”. Basically my intro to funk as a genre in general, and a great one at that. Favorite track was “maggot brain”
