first track is one of my favorite mgmt tracks ever. something about the hard synths and then the raucous drums hits like nothing ever has second track is wildly different, almost early beatles in soul third track is like an anthem of a generation. somber and urgent and plaintive I SAID OOH GIRL 💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃 (track 4) damn this shit comes all the way back from high school. downloading the music videos off youtube and putting them on my ipod (track 5) not a lot to say about tracks 6 and 7 Overall phenomenal album incredible for history

very 70s. Absolutely inscrutable I'm sure they had a really good time making it tho

Decent Album, definitely criterion status but not my favorite of theirs. Probably won't pull it up again

Stellar album. Definitely historic and important. I will maybe pull it up again, but even if I don't I feel enriched from the experience

this has so much more instrumentation than I was ready for. I'm used to sufjan just being a guy with a guitar but holy hell the choir and the flutes and the horns went on a bit too long (track 2) oh wait oh no it's the whole album maybe (track 3) OH I KNOW CHICAGO this one is genuinely so good it will probably carry the rest of the album for me (track 9) Okay the second half is way less overstimulating it's still painfully 00s overproduced but I can see why it's important

4000% better than ok computer. grew up listening to this album 7.5/10
