It's hard to objectively look at Coldplay from a 2002 perspective. They changed pop music for like a decade or longer with this album. So it sounds so plain and recycled at this point. But like... this was the first album to make this style. Melodies and harmonies are simple, clean and pleasing to hear. Everyone is playing their instruments exactly the right amount. Overall it is safe and these days feels sterile. But it's hard to argue it's an album that changed pop music. Green Eyes is a standout track to me and I enjoyed the back half of the album a lot.
