1001 Albums Summary

About as exciting as you'd expect for 1965. Honestly a snooze fest most of the time, the mixing and overall production on their first album is appalling. Puts you to sleep with the repetitive nature which is saying something as AC/DC are my favorite band. Songs are not even very long (roughly 2:40 on average) yet many of them seem to drag on. Can't be too critical though as it is their first album and band's first albums (at least up until the 90s or so) would always come out kind of meh. Bands just trying to put their name out not really having figured out their style yet. Check any of their later albums and you can see the difference in popularity

It's not for me. That said, I can see the appeal. If you are a 16 year old girl who is heartbroken after breaking up with their boyfriend of two months, this album is for you. Hits you right in the feels (again, only if criteria mentioned above is met). Adelle is clearly an amazing vocalist, but instrumentally, there is not much going on. Which leads to a snooze fest and all the songs sounding the same to me. But I can recognize the appeal.

Felt like a better version of the Adelle album I had to listen to (25). Great vocals, instruments felt more active in the song, in general a little more upbeat than Adelle. That isn't to say you couldn't find some catharsis listening to this album, but once again, not really my jam. Although I definitely understand the appeal.

Pop? Rock? A little bit of both I guess. I had a whole weekend to digest this one and it honestly hasn't changed since I finished. Kind of like how Taylor Swift is super overrated and popular, Prince is similar but with actual talent. His music is really accessible and he could play a lot of different instruments. Didn't do a whole lot for me but I totally see the appeal.
