The Queen Is Dead
The Smiths
Interesting lyrics, sometimes quite comedic
Some songs blend into each other a little bit, but quite enjoyable nonetheless
Soundwise expected something else, more modern sounding from a 1986 album, but it's great, not complaining
Production isn't mind blowing, but it's good. Crisp and clean tones on all instruments, with the vocals mixed nicely in between such that nothing overpowers.

Interesting instrumental parts, cool, unexpected riff styles
Like how the album blends together, minimal breaks between tracks.
Like Breaking the Girl a lot. Has a psychedelic feeling to it.
I Could Have Lied is great too, like the mellow outro
Righteous & the Wicked reminds me of Faith No More a little bit, with some of the vocal fills.
Under the Bridge is a good shakeup with the different intro and more relaxed instrumentation. Also enjoy the female supporting vocals on the second chorus.
Love the bass and guitar tones on Naked in the Rain
Knowing their later work, (i.e. Californication, Dani California, Snow), this album is a lot more raw, in the best way possible.
Liked the second half a lot more. Could have been a tighter, more concise package.
Mix is lacking a bit, good stereo separation, but medium compression level. Not much DR to be found here. Instruments sound good, are blending well together. Appreciate the clear bass tones, it cuts through crisply

Not really my kind of stuff
I like Human by them and some of the songs here are alright, but it's not my cup of tea
The mixing is very flat and compressed with a tiny soundstage and dynamics are limited. Sounds a little bit claustrophobic

Like how the instrumentation and the vocals mix, it's very smooth and clean
I like the funk influences mixed with the more traditional R&B sound.
Mix is a bit unconventional, as everything is pushed quite far back but it has very good stereo separation.

Not my style of music, but I appreciate the fact that the recording is as is, and it feels as if you were there. He laughs occasionally and ask for water. Appreciate how they kept him messing up the lyrics in too.

The mixing of the vocals is quite high compared to the instrumentals, but it bothered me less as I listened through. Great instumentals, amazing production, shame that it gets lost a little bit under the louder vocals. They are diverse, covering many influences, using a lot of styles and instruments. Great stereo separation, not much dr wise, but it's not really something you expect from this style
Some songs are not really sticking out to me, but overall the package is alright. Like the interludes, makes the album flow more naturally.
Great flow, like the delivery. Really like the lyrics, they are original and combine nicely on the verses.

Here, My Dear
Marvin Gaye
Man, I'm conflicted on this one.
This feels much more like a letter in musical form that got shared with the world than a traditional musical album
I love the honesty from Marvin
You can feel the pain and disappointment in his voice, but it feels like he has come to terms with what has happened. I'm sure that making and recording this album helped him cope as well.
The mix is great

Yeah, this slaps
All the instruments sound lovely, love the funky bass riffs all throughout, coupled with the sax and other horns... so good
The synths layer in well too, so the music has good depth to it
The notes mention how this album takes heavily from the 70s, which is more good news for me, being a huge fan of that era
The mix is wide, sounds spacious. All instruments sound amazing, great tones, everything can be heard clearly. Vocals blend nicely, don't overpower anything. Great vocals by Jay Kay, fits perfectly in

Yeah, no
This is more of a product than art, for me
The lyrics are okay, as I like the expressiveness of Taylor, but since almost all songs are about her relationships, it gets stale
Not a big fan of the pop sound, it's artificial and is made for charts and radio play
Nothing wrong with that, but it's not for me.
Wildest Dreams is a good shakeup, like the subtle production. Not something that I'm gonna go back to probably, but it's a standout for sure

Amazing recording
The story of how it almost never happened due to the piano switch-up makes it even better
I love how coherent it is even though it is all improvised. It's very easy to fall apart and have it just be collection of very different sections, without any cohesion
