Competent vocals but that ultimately seem from a different register than the music which is hard rock with melodic almost pop lines. Some songs have great lyrics. The whole album manages to generate a motion that is quite unique.
How could I not rate at least 3 stars? Nit their best work as it can be a bit monotonous at times in both melodic lines and themes. Nevertheless that SOCAL spirit still shines through with its mix of slightly macabre, tongue in cheek humour and imagery
Good album studded with the occasional gems. Tone is mixed between psychedelic and indie which leaves one with the question what the album would have sounded like had there been more thought put in the overarching concept.
Thought o was listening to Lee hooker but lo and behold it's the rolling stones plundering. But oddly original and well crafted. 4 stars.
