Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Oct 14 2024

This is the very first album I was given, and also the first time I’ve ever attempted to express my thoughts on music in written form. I’m pretty inexperienced when it comes to analyzing songs, much less an entire album, and that’s something I hope to grow in over the course of the next few months using this site. I can say I was surprised how many songs I was already familiar with, and getting to listen to them all in the full context of this record revealed how quintessential this is as a reggae album. From what I can tell this is THE reggae album, and I found it remarkably consistent and easy to listen to. I was tempted to give it a 5, but I don’t want to throw off my scale on the first entry.

Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós
Oct 15 2024

Didn’t love this. The music itself is pretty interesting, but each song goes for too long and just kind of drones on. An instrumental version of this would go crazy though.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Oct 16 2024

A stone cold punk rock classic. All hits no misses. Other bands wish they had as many iconic singles on one album.

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Oct 17 2024

Unfortunate for this album to be generated right after “Nevermind.” A few fun tracks, just don’t fully love her style.

The Cars by The Cars
Oct 18 2024

This album is very split for me. Half the songs are real 70s rock jams, and the other half are either too weird or too plain. As a debut there’s one or two impressive singles that have stood the test of time, while the rest is clearly not their best work.

Diamond Life by Sade
Oct 21 2024

Really solid all the way through. Sade would have killed an 80s James Bond song.

Disintegration by The Cure
Oct 22 2024

Each song tricks me into thinking that there won’t be any vocals, but I usually didn’t mind they were there.

Machine Head by Deep Purple
Oct 23 2024

Boring. Has one iconic song surrounded by 70s mediocrity.

The Nightfly by Donald Fagen
Oct 31 2024

Very silly, but I honestly had fun
