Moving Pictures by Rush

Overall a pretty solid album. First 4 songs are great! Camera eye was good but I felt like it was a little bit of a filler. Don’t think it needed to be 10 mins long. I could’ve not been listening intently, but Witch Hunt felt forgettable for me compared to the other tracks. They ended it well with Vital Signs. I gleaned as much as I could but this album is definitely deserving of a couple relistens.

#2: I normally don’t expose myself to jazz but rather enjoy it when I do. This album was a great listen for me. I like that it’s not too long and it has enough variation between tracks to give me some break between listening. The ensemble of instruments over the four tracks adds a layer of character to each track that makes them unique to each other. One track you have a little guitar, some you have flute and piano. It really is a great array of sound. Track D seemed like a great culmination of the previous tracks, but that could just be me guessing. Would definitely like to add this one to my vinyl collection and want to hear more jazz like this.

#3: Honestly, wish I like this album more. I really am on the verge of eating this a 4 star instead of a 3 if I didn’t feel like some of the songs were a little too repetitive and boring in some parts. I don’t believe prog rock to be all long tracks with repetitive instrumental so I am not sure why this is the 2nd album I’m seeing with this format. A couple songs on this album would get an add for me, solely because they switched up the tempo or beat entirely. They were like anthems with some sweet solos. I also found it interesting that this was their first album with all original songs. This might just be a fault on the listeners part who can’t stick with consistent instrumental for long periods of time, but I just felt like it was lacking in some places.

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush

#4 I’m a little confused on this one. It could definitely just be a difference in taste, maybe I’m missing something, or maybe people are flat out crazy, but I have no idea how this album got as many awards as it did. I liked a few of the songs and would definitely save them, but the rest seemed a little too out there for me. I couldn’t really see the vision of cohesiveness or a through line in this album, so to me it just kinda seemed too chaotic and all over the place. Stranger things also ruined the first song for me just cuz it was so overplayed. Was really hopeful for this album but it kinda just amounted to blah. As I said, I think I might just be missing something, but for the amount of songs on the album, compared to the ones I liked, this can only really be a 2 for me personally.

The Band by The Band

#5 This was a really enjoyable album. One of those I could put on during a road trip to just cut out a good 40 mins or put on during the weekend while cleaning or something. I like a lot of “The Band”s other songs. Just because I wish there was more “umph” to the album, I’m rating this one a 4
