1001 Albums Summary

Not what I expected having only listened to the hits of The White Stripes. A well produced mix of genres, often relaxed and mixed with harder hitting rock/punky feeling bridges. Impressed with my first listen of the 1001 albums.

Initially finding the vocals getting lost in the production, however settled in and enjoyed the sound

Unique sound that I am really enjoying, music that you can sit and really listen too, but also feels as if it would be played in the background of a record shop - in the best way possible. Towards the end of this now and it’s amazing, great tunes and vocal performance throughout

The album is seamless from start to finish, from lovely vocals to expressive lyrics in the rap sections. Not to mention excellent production which overall makes for an amazing album. I think for me though it just doesn’t quite get 5/5 and I think that is down to personal taste

Simple music done very well. Vocals and the messages behind the lyrics really come through. However that’s where the redeeming qualities of this music end

Brilliant and punky, hard hitting from the start, with some excellent slower tracks that still flow with the rest of the album very well.

Unable to make it through this one. Only redeeming qualities for me is the vocals. Find the lyrics and the melody clunky and hard to listen to.

Experimental and ambient with good vocals, but not for me

The definition of pop music, can feel how his influence has made its was into todays music. I absolutely love the disco feel to this album.

At times I enjoyed this album, but his voice - I just couldn’t get used to it.

Absolutely loved this album from start to finish. Great intro to the band and palatable punk-rock album for those just getting into it .

Better than the previous Tom waits album I listened to (heart attack and vine) excellent band and a more cohesive album but he’s still not for me

Feels very generic and middle of the road, not bad but not good either
