what is this genre of music called? idk if i like this. i keep waiting for these tracks to have more energy. this song is 7m long?? at the same intensity the entire time?? little sad englishman u gotta cut that shit out. okay we finally hit a track that doesnt sound like its the same track as the first 3 tracks. will learning what this genre of music is called prevent me from listening to it by accident. this is the kind of dislike where theres a chance ill listen to this like 5 more times and realize i love it actually but an equally large chance i will never enjoy it. theres some interesting instrumentation but it doesnt feel like its put to the service of any kind of...idk momentum. Point. think the vocalist is really REALLY not doing it for me either. hes like a very poor mans david bowie and i am not really a david bowie fan. okay fascination street is Actually a different track. thats like a little bit interesting. the second half has a diff tone than the 1st half of the album but sadly they do just feel like 2 tracks w an occasional Different Track for like 3m interspersed, not "a collection of distinct tracks that flow into each other harmoniously". omg no this isnt what Emo is as a genre right?? ik emo + goth are music genres but have no idea what they entail. but im sure this is either emo or goth. anyway the same deep water as you is actually also nice...too long but it might make it onto the EHIOF playlist bc its abt water in a creepy way! oh my god id like this album more if u made a different guy sing it and the total length was cut by 20m. homesick: another song i like but can tell its just gonna be too long. yeah the darker 2nd half is way way better than the front half. oh its over. RANKING: i would not buy a physical copy of this album unless like it waz a really Really fancy vinyl or smth. a 2.75/5 kinda beat. better songs: lovesong, fascination street, the same deep water as you, homesick. biggest complaint: album is way too long to feel this directionless

okay yeah this is more my speed. ive listened to this album before (father driving car music lmao) but not for a while so nice to revisit! i have it on w the obligatory writing background 72 hours of heavy thunderstorm/rain sounds while i do some narrative design/writing. this is so cheesy lol i do love this shit, now im having a hard time getting thru the album bc i keep restarting songs to hear fun bits again...the classic trap. the unfortunate thing abt this album is it Is all sex innuendos and further classic str8 guy misogynist sex innuendos [uhm emoji]. givin the dog a bone is like "im literally going to say shes blowing me but it doesnt count somehow" [uhm] [let me put my love in you comes on] OKAY BUT I DO LIKE THIS ONE. just as much as yes was horrible music for the godawful mood i was in yesterday night miriam makeba is the perfect music for the elysian bliss i feel this evening after fucking cooking all day at work. i wouldnt say i know jazz at all but i did grow up listening to ella fitzgerald on miserably cold snowy evenings such as i find around myself again this evening + miriam makeba feels like i ran into a cool older friend for the 1st time in a while (ella fitzgerald) who had an equally cool friend of abt the same age w her (miriam makeba) with whom i immediately hit it off in the same way ^w^ she has that rare combo beautifully characterful emotionally expressive vocal quality x unimpeachable technique + control how many ppl can say that? suliram is so cozy n lovely. man its cool how african diaspora music <--> music from africa, some of this isnt familiar (+ is very cool!) but some rlly is like (pointing) oh like in jazz. not sure how much is independently developed vs how much is in conversation w each other but its nice. LINGUISTICS FACT: did u kno click consonants are only* found as an areal feature in southern/eastern africa?
