Crime Of The Century
Supertramp
Bloody Well Right and Dreamer are some all-time faves. The rest of the album was new to me. It is theatrical and layered, kind of like a prime Pink Floyd album with less self-indulgence. That said, none of the new songs to me managed to stand out on their own. Not as poppy as Breakfast In America, which I do love. It makes sense that that became The Big One, but this showed the promise of the band.

Vol. 4
Black Sabbath
From the primordial metal ooze comes Sabbath's 4th album laden with a barrage of Iommian heavy riffs, relenting only for the hauntingly beautiful Changes (which was later more appropriately covered in an R&B style and used as the intro for Big Mouth) and weird FX, before getting back to work with my favorite riff of the album, Supernaut. I had a total hesher evening working in the garage to this album.

Synchronicity
The Police
Sting gets a little too art-schooley for me sometimes, but Synchronicity II deserves it's airplay, while I'll Be Watching You has well worn out it's welcome, as the most played song on the radio, and the weirdest choice for a wedding song. Also, wtf is Mother?

Lust For Life

This album rules. Makes me want to roll around in broken glass and cover myself in peanut butter. I love the backup vocals, just sounds like they're having a blast. Success was the main discovery on this listen. I'm serious about wanting to sing karaoke with The Boys on backup.

Safe As Milk
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Based on clips I had heard on music podcasts, I was expecting way weirder and more experimental, but it's his first album, in 1967, so it's pretty much psyedelic meets honky tonk rock and pretty digestible to the modern ear... except that it's over an hour long!

Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
Arctic Monkeys
Man, I almost forgot how good this debut album was. Perfect A side sexy bar punk rippers, perfect B side moodiness with occasional growls. I was 13 when it came out, 15 when a friend showed it to me, and we played Mardy Bum in the High School battle of the Bands.

Live!
Fela Kuti
This was very cool. Knew Ginger Baker from Cream, but was not expecting this album. Crazy percussion and energy. Actually let the algorithm run for a few hours in the garage to see what else it would play, I knew none of it but liked damn near all of it.

Nobody bothered to tell these lads they weren't famous yet. So much swagger, rock n roll fun. Cigarettes & Alcohol, baby.

The Zombies
What a total snooze-fest to get to the only pay-off, the last song, Time of the Season, which is the only one that doesn't sound like a generic version of a Beatles song

Quirky as hell, but not a single boring moment. As Rich aptly said, "slimy yet satisfying".

Why does this album (with the exception of All These Things That I've Done) make me feel existential dread (and why doesn't that song?) Is it because I was 11? Is it because it's a Tuesday in the winter?

Great vibe to this record, feels like you're travelling around a busy city
