...And Justice For All
MetallicaI decided on a whim to start this project, and so here's the first of hopefully 1001 album reviews. The first album I got is the classic Metallica record. ...And Justice For All. Despite being a fan of this band I can't say I'm all too familiar with this record outside of One, Blackened, and Harvester of Sorrow. All of these are amazing tracks. I do worry about the infamous bass production. Review: This album has some of Metallica's greatest tracks period. This is likely the best album to show Lars's underrated drumming (He's still a tool). The guitar work is absolute perfection and features perhaps Metallica's most political lyrics. Despite how much I loved this album, it has its share of flaws. Most famously, it is the terrible production that makes the bass nearly impossible to hear. Considering how important the bass was on the first three albums this feels very wrong, especially considering how Jason had the heavy task of replacing Cliff Burton. In addition, the drums are often too loud. The song's length while sometimes great can at times be excessive. This is a true heavy metal classic but its production faults prevent me from calling it a masterpiece. Regardless, this album's highs far outweigh its lows and in my opinion, the songs are just so good that it can be possible to excuse the poor production. Score:8/10 Best track:One Least Favorite track:To Live is To die Current Rank:1 Closing Thoughts Great first album! I truly can't wait until this project continues. I'll try and get it on either CD or Vinyl (Hopefully Vinyl so I can one day complete Metallica's classic albums) I'm excited to see what I get tomorrow! Current List 1. ...And Justice For All-Metallica 8/10
