Ellington at Newport
Duke EllingtonTop notch. The concert showcases all the members of the band. Big boisterous arrangements, classy piano playing, tons of horns and solos. Superb.

Single plus filler. "Green Light" is an anthem, but the rest of the album is mediocre bedroom bloat. Lorde fans will probably say her lyrics are more elevated than typical pop music, and that she's "real" and an "artist," but none of that makes up for the thin, boring, uninspired music that makes up most of this album. Lorde is at her best when heavily produced with a gigantic sound, and most of this album isn't that.
The very best of melodic grunge, nearly every song can be a lead single in its own right, actually pretty remarkable. Big rock and roll guitars, Veder's iconic vocals, slammin' solos, and a groove-centric sound sometimes missing from rock and roll. Even the ballads hit. The back half of the album is a little forgettable.
Opens with a song about a car, how 70s is that? Yes, this is the album with Smoke On The Water on it. But that's probably the worst song on be album. Just good, groovy, bluesy rock from top to bottom. Loose, but tight, simple, yet heady. Excellent.
A perfectly fine pop/rock album with excellent vocals throughout. The hits are good and you probably know them, but a lot of the middle bits are pretty samey. At the end of the day, I likd most of it, but don't feel the need to revisit it much.
Janis! A raw, powerful album full of great tunes. A little unrefined, I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a live album or a studio album, but the sound is good and the vibe is unmatched.
Snooze
A perfectly mid rock and roll album. A little folksy, a surprising amount of acoustic instruments, but much of the songwriting is a bid boring. Gimme Shelter is awesome.
Not for me, and that's okay. I wouldn't listen to this again.
A bit simple, but you can hear the proto-rock. I found most of the songs to be a bit bland for my taste, and while the harmonies are well executed, they started to grate after just a few tunes. I dig the tick-tack shuffle vibes, but it's just one step shy of being something I'd listen to regularly.
Holy shit! Where did this come from? The first track slaps, and I really enjoy all of the big numbers--with groove, a choir, and this massive sound. Nick cave's voice itself has trouble sustaining a double album, and in the middle of disc two I'm sick of his sound, and just want more choir. All-in-all the arrangements are killer, the songwriting original, and the grooves deep, and the sounds exciting. I know he's known for them, but I'd skip the ballads.
If someone knows this album, they probably have eclectic taste, and listen to better electronic music. If this is someone's favorite album: run. This sounds like what groove-allergic straight edges think future music will be like, only less fun.
