THINKIN: An album told from a second-person perspective. The "you"s of the album's first half are sharp, accusatory, which then mellow into the soften dialogue or whimsy of the back half.
PERSONALLY: I love Bobbie, I like this album a whole lot, maybe not as magical as others find it, the echo on Simple Twist of Fate is powerful stuff.

THINKIN: Jazzy.
PERSONALLY: I don't know how to read Jazz yet but hoping this listening experiment gives me some more insights.

THINKIN: Smooth sounds by some slick ricks.
PERSONALLY: Deacon Blue is an all-timer for me. On this listen, it hit me that I have no idea why these songs are grouped together. Obviously, it's not a concept album or in need of any great unifying theory, but it still made me ponder.

THINKIN: As catchy as good pop should be but with the depths of European monarchical history.
PERSONALLY: I don't know what he's signing about but that's how Vintage Violence works as well, which I love. A great sequel to that album.
ALT TITLE: A Ghost at Noon
THINKIN: Jazzy horns.
PERSONALLY: Still not a Jazz guy but I love his hat.
ALT TITLE: The Black Lady and the Sinner Saint
THINKIN: The sonic palate defines and transcends American music. Many voices that mesh into one. Democracy in music.
PERSONALLY: Many all timers on this album, ending with I Shall Be Released is unmatched.
ALT TITLE: Kingdom Come
THINKIN: Recorded therapy session that somehow is as inviting as great pop can be. Using a 3-minute pop song to do and hold so much emotion. One of the greatest, if not "the", solo-Beatles records.
PERSONALLY: Mother as an opening still hits me as much as when I first heard it.
ALT TITLE: Mother
THINKIN: The life and death of the Laural Canyon, and maybe Rock 'n' Roll itself, captured in a single disc.
PERSONALLY: My all-time Neil album, the best of his quieter-folky-loner and cluster-fuck-rock sides, Powderfinger is one of the best songs in his catalogue.
ALT TITLE: The King is Dead
THINKIN: Go white boy go.
PERSONALLY: on one level it’s a 5 out of 5 for sentimental reasons, but on this listen through I found I couldn’t stand the Across the Universe cover.
