At Folsom Prison
Johnny Cash
I’ve been listening to this album since I first knew what an album was. This is a top 10 best favorite album of all time for me, but I haven’t thought about it in years. It’s weird to hear it all together now, instead of having to flip the record or the cassette in the middle. The inmates cheering is thrilling. The interruptions of guard announcements, the jokes between Johnny and the inmates makes me feel like a tough guy too. What did these guys do to get in there, and what do they think seeing Johnny now? Were there other concerts in jails? Was this a common thing? Were there uso shows in jails? Did anyone in the audience know cash when he was locked up there too? It’s hard not to get lost in thought about where and when and for whom this album was recorded. It’s exciting. The fraternity between Johnny and June and the inmates is joyful. This has got to be the best live album ever recorded no second place. The song list is a best-of album, every song was a part of my childhood. the inmates booing the warden gives this album a wildness that is real and tangible . I love it.

if i hear these 3 things i know its gunna be a good time: an interesting bass palyer, a saxophone choir with a lot of barry sax, and a piano ! what instruments does bowie play? is he the piano player? i need to read this album wiki i have a million questions. was he freinds with elton? there have been two distinct times in my life where not knowing david bowie songs has really screwed me, yet i still havent seeked out his catalog that much. should tho bc there might be a third one day. never heard this album before, but liked it and listened to it again right away. its rockin! Theres a lot of like distantly familiar songs and bits of musical phrasing and lyrics.
This is a good one !

What a lovely little album! Bosa nova has been hitting my ear right recently. i am curious - is this the first ever iteration of girl from impanena? Album is great, can have it on repeat in the bg of a party or at work and everyone would be happy. loving it. feels like a sigh.

this is a hellovah album. never heard befroe, but bet everyone who hears it remembers where they were when they first heard it. its very scenic atmospheric dramatic witchy swirling mesmerizing. i watched pigeons flying in the distance swooping and turning in the sky with a mountain and a far off highway behind them as listened to this, and that felt just right for the opening songs. does santana sing? does he play piano? i have lots of uestions wiki would like to answer. really cool album.

I think i am not quite feeling this album, but it is ok. I appreciate the love of music that is obviously behind the musician. Husband once described this style of music, (off-syncopated, skipping rhythm, not always a consistent bpm) as "music for people who are not worried". I may listen to this album again , but it wont be in my top favorites.

Interesting album. Complete ambience sound. Always building to something but never quite getting there, which i think is purposeful. This album feels wandering and searching, but never finding. It is not engaging, nor attention grabbing. Sometimes you think oh snap, ok they are about to do something interesting here... but then back to wandering. Good thing to put on in the background going to sleep, but, not really for the background of a party. Album is a bit underwhelming, but again, I think that is on purpose. If you want to sink your teeth into some M-U-S-I-C, this is not the album, know what i mean? I ended up listening a few times thru even tho 2.5 hours long.

Finally hearing the Sex Pistols is a blast! Dang dude they really were super controversial! I always assumed their reputation was overblown against old more puritan standards, but damn! Really fun album I want to f some s up now

This is overall a good album. I started really enjoying it around song five hit me enters a bit and doesn’t always carry a steam but for the most part, this is a good one. At times, it reminds me of Doctor teeth in the electric mayhem in the very best way, and I like to hear the choir style singing. Sometimes southern rock, sometimes bluegrass, sometimes folk overall good. I’m a sucker for a fiddle and slide guitar taking turns. Don’t look at My Shadow is my fav song on this album

Parliament
i love funk, i love parliment, i love this album, i love bootsy. this album is funny bc it is only 38 minutes long, but i know in real life, when George and the gang play live, EACH song is like 38 minutes long! lol. i wonder how the sudio guys got them to cut it short. maybe the producer just cut off the song after 5 minutes each lol.
album makes me reflect on meditation, and the transcendental meditation theory of a repeating a syllable(s) to bring peace. Each song is lyrically simple, with just one or 2 repeated phrases, repeated over and over and over, like an Om. i feel it would not be out of funkadelic's wheelhouse to be attempting to bring a trance like state to themselves and audience.
