1001 Albums Summary

Loved the beginning, but then fell of and didn't really seem like a cohesive record. I dont know when the album finished and suggested song sbegan to play. Really liked "A Change is Gonna Come" and "Down in the Valley."

Can't beleive this is the first time I'm hearing this! Hearing Eminem on the radio is inevitable, and it's such a shame that nothing from this release is on the air - although it makes sense why it isn't. This slaps better than pretending airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars. He's lyrical, he's witty, he's grungy and repugnant, he's not trying to be black, he's Marshall fucking Mathers.

Sarah Vaughan is incredible! I wish I could have been there in Chicago. I wish we still bred performers like this because how timeless is her voice and style!

I love Bjork so much and this album really has all the quirks and musical themes she expands upon in later albums. I want her to dj at my birthday, wedding, and funeral.

He references rock n roll like he is rock n roll but there's no rock and no roll anywhere here. Is he like MJ for white people if MJ wasn't black or white or MJ? Honestly never heard of this man. While listening, I kept thinking, what sort of white person in their prime during the 80s would I have to be in order to find this enjoyable. I only kinda liked Soul Free and that's it, everything else just mashed together in a plain arrangement of forgettable, half-pleasant sounds lacking any character, depth or artistic vision. Was this really on the radio? Which one of you white people made me listen to this shite before I die? 0 stars.

I love Maggot Brain! Wish I had found this gem sooner, but so glad to have found it when I did. I can't remember if I stumbled upon it, or if my dance teacher recommended I check out P-Funk, but we shared many good times over their music and saw George Clinton's last (?) tour with the band. 5/5

nice hard panned guitars stereo. vox on remember tomorrow makes me think it's gonna morph into a prog rock, very king crimson esque when he sings in the lull between the guitar chorus. still nice. guitar bridge very prog, thank yew. rest of album kinda hard to distinguish. probs bc i dont listen to this genre very often. probably still wont. 2/5

how horrible on the ears. only got one good song and you know the one. even then, i'd rather only hear it confined to a 30 second commercial i won't be paying attention to.

i didn't finish listening to it, and I'm not mad about that.

Wow that was relly gud.

Absolutely adore Cocteau Twins, and while this isn't my favourite album, there are some huge standouts here. Lorelei is hypnotic enough to die to and Pandora (for Cindy) is timeless and wonderful. I hope to see more of them on this list because they are still way ahead of their time.
