Don’t even have to listen to this today because this is one of my favorites of all time and I know it like the back of my hand. The romantic grunginess feels like a deeply personal journey, with emotional guitar riffs contributing to a sense of being lost and lonely, but with the slightest hint of direction.
I’m sure this was great for the time, but in the modern era I find that I can’t listen to any of these songs past the first half before my mind starts to wander. I need a little more excitement—change the time signature, key, throw in some modified notes… anything. This album very much feels like a compilation of songs meant to be used as the backtrack to a transition between scenes in a movie. They need focal points.
