Would listen again, but not the best Temptations songs
2 star, interesting idea, mediocre execution, doesn't stand on its own legs. Heart was in the right place
It was fun, but I don't know if I would listen to any of these songs in my own time
Good, Americana isn't my personal vibe
Great production value. Not my favorite voice on an artist, but I can see where he became an American sensation. "Heartland Rock" as a genre makes sense. Really not for me, but not a bad artist. I can respect the quality, and the appeal, but this is a personal 2.
Music you can talk over Actually pretty good vibes in the latter half, but frankly pretty boring
Am I on acid? Honestly? I had a really fun time listening to this. It took a lot of risks Help, I'm a rock!
Great vibes, and it's their first album? Nice. A few misses for me, but every song takes such a fun journey that by the end of a song it's usually... a different song
Amazing stuff, I am consistently wowed by the ability to produce a sound that feels both heavy and light at the same time, while also maintaining an anchoring melody in what feels like a chaotic orchestration. I always feel elevated when they add strings to their songs as well. Their second album, finding their sound and style, they've released a few of my favorites here. Cherub rock, Mayonaise, Today Billy's voice was never perfectly beautiful, but it captures a raw emotion perfectly.
What a party!! This was a fun listen
A solid listen. Love his composition work, but not really wowed by his voice. Beautiful soundscapes in here, loved when the strings got involved, but underwhelmed with moments that fell into Americana vibes. Almost a 4* but not quite
🤠
Honestly I hate that it's good. I get why people cite this album in specific in conversations about Kanye. The music and style are great, but there's a purposeful ego and anti-intellectualism that put me off of some of this. But at the end of the day, fuck this Nazi asshole
Ooooooh I fucking loved this. Feel like I would have been all over this in high school. Felt like a melancholy soundbath. Amazing and influential.
I don't really know how to feel, some parts are gorgeous and others kinda discordant. It feels like a breakup album at times, and hearing his history and mystery around his death makes this really feel like a breakup with life itself, with lines saying something like "I'm not aftaid to die anymore". Especially since the last song is titled "Bye". Eerie, yet beautiful. Struggled a lot with the lyrics feeling like nonsense, and a lot of moments early on that felt out of line with the song as a whole, but I love the dreamy atmosphere in some of these moments.
I'm impressed by the flow of this album, it definitely feels like a strange rodeo getting whiplashed from one place to another like riding a bucking bull. Some places I didn't enjoy the ride, but some points were really enjoyable and beautiful or fun. Overall glad I took the journey, although not a bumpy road I'll choose to go down often, despite the view
Had the privilege of owning this on vinyl! Great side A vibes, kinda drops off a bit towards the end though, but a party indeed 4 stars, almost a 5
Really vibes with this, common people was a smash! Tapered off a bit towards the end, but still an interesting journey throughout
Hard listen, and a hard pass. Production was good but messy. Please stop with the whiny sex voice.
Five stars, no notes. Unreal, surreal experience. RIP
Yeah, good, I think 60s music doesn't really draw me in. Can respect it, especially California Dreamin', but leaves me wanting more
Damn, this is right up my alley. Some transitions between songs were rough, but others were beautifully done. Sometimes a song would start and I didn't think it would match the vibe, but in the end I loved the whole album. Amazing to drive to on a groggy morning Didn't like Basement Scene, but Desire Lines is my new jam
Very good stuff. Not my vibe, but a great sound throughout, consistent Elenor loves this album
