Garbage by Garbage

"Nice T Shirt" I was at the London Astoria to see the Rapture, it was their first UK show and I was keen to see the after hearing their incredible single, House of Jealous Lovers. They were playing a club night and I arrived with a friend and handed in my jacket to the person who managed the cloakroom. "Thanks", I replied. looking down at my Garbage T Shirt. I wasn't much of a fan, but at the time I worked for their record label and it was a promotional only shirt. I said as much to the pretty girl with the Australian accent who was giving me a raffle ticket so i could claim my coat later. "If you give me your address I'll send you one". She did. And I did. And that is where I met Alicia. The girl who was to become my first girlfriend. She loved Garbage. And I loved her.

Gorillaz by Gorillaz

Self indulgent. I bet Damon listens back to the WhatsApp voice notes he sends people and nods and agrees with himself. Like an idiot. You hear me Damon. LIKE AN IDIOT. YOU HEAR ME!?

Beauty And The Beat by The Go-Go's
Apr 08 2025

This was a nice enough listening experience, but couldn't imagine myself listening to it again. I can see why they've had such an impact on the genre, but to be honest, I'd prefer listening to Belinda's solo material. Highlight is We Got The Beat (which could have done with one last chorus in my honest opinion), and Skidmarks On My Heart... because... it's called Skidmarks On My Heart.

Yeah. Loved this. Ones of those bands I've always been aware of, but not listened too. Unlike Sleeper.

Oh yes. What can i possibly say what hasn't already been said a thousand times over. I'm just glad Kurt didn't live long enough to have a twitter account. They'd be awful.

The Contino Sessions by Death In Vegas
Apr 14 2025

Music for an advert that sell perfume which smells like cat piss within 20 minutes of applying. But it's too late now... you're out dancing with friends. And every time you lean to speak to someone, you see their face, and you think to yourself... "are they pulling that face because I small of cat piss!?". It's gunna be a long night.

I am a white, middle aged man who has a moustache. I listen to progressive rock music recorded my whiter, older aged men with full beards. Despite their friendly demeanor, this isn't for me.

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Apr 16 2025

One of those bands and albums, that no matter who says, "they've had a huge influence on me", I would still love them. Journalist - "So, Lee, you may be of the singers in Blue, I hear you have quite a wide taste in music?" Lee Ryan - "yes. I love The Pixes. Especially the album Sofa Rosa. The way Black Francies can give a vocal performance so visceral such as on Broken Face and yet bring a different vibe with tracks like, "Where Is My Mind". I love it sad often feel inspired by this with my performances in many of our hits, such as 'All Rise'. Me (with gritted teeth and clenched fists), I still like the Pixes. Please note this is a completely imaginary quote by Lee Ryan. But still... fuck that guy.

Revolver by Beatles
Apr 19 2025

Among my many memories associated with The Beatles, one that always brings a smile to my mug is the time I saw them live. Yes... i did indeed see the Beatles live at a wedding reception about a decade ago. And let me tell you they were magnificent playing songs from their entire career. I danced and drank and danced and drank... and drank some more. I woke up on Brighton's stoney beach around 4am having missed my train home with no money in my account to afford another. I called a friend (who was fortunately up eating before sunrise... i love the muslims) and she transferred some money. I got home in London about 8am with a colossal headache, stones in my stones, BUT... i saw The Beatles live. Well... I'm pretty sure it was them.

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Apr 22 2025

The best Led Zeppelin album and the third best Sandy Denny album.
