1001 Albums Summary

Unbelievable. “People Get Ready”, “Groovin’”, “Ain’t No Way”, stood out above the others and the others were phenomenal. I haven’t really listened to Aretha in a while and it was a stark reminder of the extreme talent and personality and soul that went into this record.

I liked this album! But it definitely started to fade into the background after awhile. It’s not bad in any capacity, just all the songs are very similar so the album starts to blend into one long song.

This has some gooduns like “Dig for Fire” and “Velouria” but I was pretty bored with this album. Doolittle is one of my favorite albums of all time, I love Pixies, but this one feels lethargic. Maybe I’m missing some nuance, maybe this is why I realized I never listened to this album all the way through.

Some strong songs. Didn’t even realize this was the album with the iconic song “The Weight” and “Chest Fever”. Other songs just annoyed me.

Infinitely too long. Needed so many edits.
