Funeral by Arcade Fire
Apr 15 2025

Day 1. So far so good. Not really my taste, but I can def appreciate it. Neighborhood #3 is good. The guitar and drums are really good, the vocals are not for me but not too distracting. Neighborhood #4 is better actually. The girl voice in Haiti is good.

Stankonia by OutKast
Apr 16 2025

Really Good. Lots of classics I had heard but mostly unfamiliar to me. I can see how this is such an influential album. So many incredible beats and the flow is just iconic. It was awkward listening to some of it though while driving as it sounds… intimate.

Music From Big Pink by The Band
Apr 17 2025

I get it, this was probably very influential and legendary back in the day, but it was not it for me. Just felt a little bland and straight for my taste

Ten by Pearl Jam
Apr 18 2025

Guitarist is really pulling their weight. Overall really good, but not really my taste. There weren’t any songs that were catchy or rememberable melodies, but the overall musicianship was fantastic.

American Beauty by Grateful Dead
Apr 19 2025

Idk just not for me. Kinda boring and I didn't really get through it

Justified by Justin Timberlake
Apr 20 2025

Honestly… really good. Some of the songs were really cringe but overall the vibe was great. Cry me a river we did in college and a few others I was already familiar with. Rhythms were clean and the melodies were catchy. I’m curious if it was just as cringe back in the day or if it aged poorly. Not the album I would expect on this list but I was happy to have it.

Tapestry by Carole King
Apr 22 2025

Really really good. Many songs I already knew but wouldn’t have known the artist. I think her voice is fantastic, the composition is great, and the melodies are very memorable.

For Your Pleasure by Roxy Music
Apr 23 2025

This was really not good. I really don’t see the appeal, felt like some of them were so bad it was almost a joke. Monster mash vibes. I think this will be my first 1 star. Best part was the first sax solo in editions of you.

Rising Above Bedlam by Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart
Apr 24 2025

This one really confused me. On the one hand, the bass and percussion is super groovy, although maybe repetitive. On the otherhand, every time the bass-ish vocalist comes in, the song becomes unreasonable. Like his voice sounds out of place, out of tune, and poorly mixed, it makes no sense. Meanwhile the woman’s vocals are fantastically mixed and professional sounding. Multiple songs I had to skip because the man’s voice was so unpleasant. The melodic elements that went outside the major scale were pretty cool, not something I here in western music often, and the doversity of instruments was also cool. Many of the songs were long and honestly could have had the same impact in a minute or two if they cut out all the looping, although the changeups were cool when they eventually happen. I think if the album would get somewhere close to a 4, but the repetitiveness takes it down at least half a star and the mans voice takes it down another point and a half… if I’m being kind. (If I’m being honest it makes it unlistenable)

The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Apr 25 2025

Not for me. I think this is very centered around this man’s vocals, which are simply underwhelming. Not bad. Just underwhelming.

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Apr 26 2025

This was good overall! I think the musicianship and production were fantastic, they really created a vibe that was compelling by and there were ebbs and flows through the album. I think I didn’t “get” a lot of it though, with the many parts and lack of an overall message in a lot of it. Its again not really my taste, and also I think I have heard other Pink Floyd songs that were more my speed.

Mott by Mott The Hoople

This one was fun! I didnt listen too closely tbh but it was a fun listen. Nothing too deep, just some fun music.

Gris Gris by Dr. John

Was kinda weird tbh
