The Genius Of Ray Charles by Ray Charles
Apr 27 2025

Wow Ray Charles did not play. I love big band music can we have a resurgence right now (I need more hsc material). If we are bringing back yearning let’s talk about When Your Lover Has Gone and It Had to Be You. AND THE TRANSITION to Alexander don’t play with me. This album had me feeling pretty jolly. Deed I Do feels like a play on scatting, and if that’s what it is I highly appreciate that. If you can’t have them crying, have them dance I say 🤷‍♀️.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Apr 28 2025

Upright bass solos!! I scream into the abyss. Samba Dee Days had me a bit shocked I thought I accidentally queued some random country album at the beginning but alas it very obviously isn’t a country song. I really appreciate the interplay between guitar and sax in most of these songs I think it adds a really nice contrast. Hold up is the album cover a horse? That again feels kind of country. The two standouts for me on this album would probably be Desafinado and Bahia so a strong start and finish, just got a bit bored towards the middle tbh. If I could give half stars, it would be 3.5. But 4/5 feels too lenient so. It was nice as background music for mlp.

Fragile by Yes
Apr 29 2025

I don’t have much to say I’m a little bit confused to be honest. Like when it was good it was great, and then the rest had me raising a brow. Heart of the Sunrise reminded me of the War of the Worlds album which brought me back to my early childhood - loved that. The bass on this album is legendary holy wow, kind of an Audioslave vibe sometimes but way before Audioslave so I wonder if there are some influences there?

Killing Joke by Killing Joke
Apr 30 2025

I don’t actually think this is a bad album at all, but I was not in the mood to listen to this yesterday so it felt like a task. I liked The Wait and Change, but beyond that I think I just zoned out whilst doing work for legal. The sound is cool and I’ll probably listen to it again another day.

Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear

I surprisingly really fuck with this. The first song I had mixed feelings, it was conflicted because I wasn’t sure whether it was great or odd. But the sample in the second song I’m sorry I really love it. It isn’t something I’d typically reach for but I like it. The outro solo in Fine For Now - wow. I probably have to sit and listen to it again to gain like a true grasp on the album, but I like it I think it was just the right vibe for today. 🥇Two Weeks🥈While You Wait For The Others🥉Fine For Now

Sleek kind of vibe that reminds me of Sade. I really liked the album, but didn’t have time to finish it because we were at Syd Symphony. So 3/5 but will probably be promoted to 4/5 upon second listen.

The Band by The Band
May 03 2025

I actually like this album, the one thing I can’t get past is the vocals they just aren’t my cup of tea. And purely because of that I don’t think I’ll be reaching for it. I liked When You Awake and Jawbone.

Picture Book by Simply Red
May 05 2025

Ok so thoughts upon opening track - I like it, bit of MJ. I don’t really listen to Soul Pop but I haven’t tried it much either so maybe it’s a new thing for me. I really liked Holding Back the Years and Picture Book. Woo will listen again.

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
May 07 2025

Was not the sound I was expecting. Very much enjoyed it though.
