1001 Albums Summary

This was a pretty nice start to this journey. I think it was a really cohesive and solid dance album, although it wasn't pretty much my style. When looking at a dance album I always like to find interesting and uncommon textures that I feel this album lacked a bit. Nonetheless, I still think it was a nice listen and I consider going back to some songs in this projects. I also think that not knowing the KLF affected to this listen. My favorite song was Last Train to Trancentral, I think it's a clear stand-out in this project and the best song by far. I really appreciate the melodic and production choices in this track.

In the beginning I wasn't being really impressed because 60s country/rockabilly are not genres that are up my alley. However, the best part of this album is not the production or instrumentation, it's the concept and the storyline. When I got into the space of San Quentin Prison, I understanded why this album is in this selection. I loved how Johnny Cash interacts with the crowd and how they respond to him, and how he manages to criticize prison system in the middle of this album. My favorite moment of this album is when he sings "San Quentin" and then, he sings it again given the reaction the prisoners give to him. Such a great live album and an amazing listening experience.

This was kind of boring if I have to be honest. This is my first time listening to a Rolling Stones full body of work and it was nothing otherworldly. It just didn't give me reasons to dive into their discography, and while I understand the legacy they hold, I didn't particularly enjoy this album. I think "Sympathy of the Devil" is great and by far the strongest track on this album.
