intersting start - the child crying is distressing. i like the wind chime/water sound; and the airy otherworldly clock and whooshy sounds... prooving to be pleasant to listen to. not my usual style, but i like the grooviness & the general relaxed mood.

pretty neutral. i like the album, but not my favorite or least favorite. also very possible i'm swayed by Brett.

Brothers by The Black Keys

Smile by Brian Wilson
Jun 12 2025

There are some things I like - there’s a lot of variety in the album, pure sounding voice, but sometimes it just sounded like noise. Initially I thought I was listening to The Beach Boys again! But it’s different, and overall I’m liking it.

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jun 13 2025

I know I’m being influenced by Brett’s opinion, but this album isn’t that good. It is some sounds from The Beach Boys that I like (upbeat and funky) but it’s overall erratic. There’s one song that has emergency vehicle sounds in the background - who wants to listen to that!?

Dusty In Memphis by Dusty Springfield
Jun 14 2025

I like the beginning, jazzy and smooth. i actually like the whole album so far. nice smooth voice. relaxing.

In It For The Money by Supergrass
Jun 18 2025

Reminds me of the Beatles; I like the rock vocal harmonies. I don’t love the angst, but I do like a similar angst in the Beatles … maybe that has to do with time of life? A little chaotic for what I want right now, but some cool musicality

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Jun 19 2025

I’m thinking a 4, relaxed, good for background.

The Next Day by David Bowie
Jun 20 2025

I give it a 2 I’m not sure I love his voice; the background is funky, and kind of unsettling. I like the cymbal… This first songs gs a kind of anticipation/anxiety about it that doesn’t feel like easy listening I do like the “ungh” in his voice occasionally though …. Second song still has angsty feel Still don’t love the third song. I like the background and the musicality, but it feels like he’s just talking over it without much musicality in his voice, which I don’t love.

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Jun 21 2025

I like it - it's relaxing background; musical; there's interest and not too much chaos. the balance of voice to instrumentation is interesting; i feel like the instruments are more forward (or at least in this song) and i think that helps contribute to the "peaceful" feeling. the voices aren't as inspiring/to my taste as some, but at a high level, I'm a fan. I think 4 - I like it (not neutral), and not blown away. here's what I think my rankings are: 1 - actively strongly dislike 2 - actively dislike 3 - neutral 4 - actively like 5 - love among all these things there are different elements that I may like or dislike, so the number rating will be an overall impression. as i keep listening, i may be able to distill categories of what i start paying attention to. some categories i may consider: - vocal quality (do I like or dislike the voices? and what do i like or dislike about them)? - instrumental quality (some things i've liked so far are interesting/tight harmonies, intricacy of patterns, unexpected or harmonious movement of instruments together, either in melody/harmony or in rhythm) - tone or subject matter (major, minor) - degree of chaos vs. harmoniousness

Fever To Tell by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Jun 22 2025

I don't like the vocal style. i also don't like the chaos or the grittiness of the background. it does feel very creative, but not a huge fan.

Don't Stand Me Down by Dexys Midnight Runners
Jun 23 2025

So far, i don't really like it. The jazziness is fun, but it feels repetitive and kind of old...

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Jun 24 2025

i like the spunkiness/jazziness interesting baseline sound quality is kind of fuzzy so far i like it

Guero by Beck
Jun 25 2025

really hard rock opening - not my favorite style, but it does grab your attention right from the beginning i like it more than I think i would! 4

I See You by The xx
Jun 26 2025

a 3 so far, i like it, but it's not the greatest; felt kinda Whitney, but I like the music and their voices. Hard to take as a whole album.
