does this generator hate me???????
i am happy that this album is as short as it is because i just didn't like the vocals since they have this quality where they're really good at getting yr attention. The instrumental is a lot better but its mixed much too low in comparison to the vocals, which were so bad i was cringing at some points at the auditory experience i had been given. The stuff in the fifth track that goes back and forth in between your ears is great and the vocals are growing on me as the album progresses, in fact the whole thing becomes less of an assault on my ears as it goes. This sounds like new mother mother tbh. overall it was fine but im leaning towards having a dislike of it due to the grating vocals at the start.

ok, ok, ok, ok. Kirk its only 75 minutes, you 5/5'd nervous young man. you can handle this. Just listen to the album as the tracks are listed on rym, its not that difficult. Its a lot more bearable then the previous album i can tell ya that much, like the vocalist sounds like he isn't screeching every bar, and trying to do a dying bird impression in fact its quite the opposite. Its a quite palatable album, and one i don't think i would've been gravitated to if it werent for the generator, though that doesnt make up for the hellhole (jeff rocenstock ref???) that the last album unfortunately ended up being. The piano was very enjoyable to me, and so is the louder stuff seen in tracks like Hanging Out And Hung Up On The Line and Safesurfer. The electric guitar and guys vocals go amazing together. If you loved me at all sounds kinda like radiohead, honestly a lot of this sounds like a worse in rainbows (the best you can get from me is sounding like in rainbows and being the same quality (ignore the part where sounding like the normal album and being better, though not attainable to my knowledge is a better achievement)). Drive She Said has an amazing hook. I think i could prolly find smth to say about every track off this if given enough time, because this album certainly isnt smth like loveless where either im not getting it or it grows on you. I like the horns in you, part of me just wishes they were quieter then the vocals. overall this is a really good album just not something id come back to.

The generator has atoned for its sins with the first album. This is a really fun jangle pop album (is there such thing as an unfun jangle pop album?). If this project does one thing its get me into psych rock, because these last two albums have been incredibly fun (is that rlly the word for peggy suicide? (no, not in the slightest)) psych albums. The riffs present throughout the album are amazing. I am also getting a lot of long albums. Meh, i don't have to listen to the full extended edition, that would be a fools game. Though these vocals are really good, they remind me of the flaming lips (ignore the fact that i have heard 1 flaming lips album and i didn't like it (though i did like what ive heard off yoshimi battles the pink robots, or whatever its called)). The bass guitar in this is really good. It feels like i can barely hear the drums though. to be honest this feels like a whole album of I Want You (She's So Heavy) by The Beatles. The issue with this record is less so that the music is bad, and more that it overstays its welcome quite a bit. Oh my god, yes the rym version is only 9 tracks, the youtube version has like 31 extra songs (how did somebody think that was a good idea?), thats the length of the standard will wood album!! Holy shit these guys are good at making a groovy guitar segment. oh my god this is the whole track What kind of magic does this generator have? It's showing me peak after peak, lets hope its the same tomorrow. Hold on, i think theres a thrift store in my city named after this album's best track. In other news the queen of eyes is really good. i like the harmonies, it reminds me of Camper Van Beethoven. overall if i havent made it apparent i really liked this album.

New Gold Dream (81/82/83/84)
Simple Minds
this album opens with a really punchy synth and some ok vocals. Its new wave according to rym, and i feel like given the music im hearing its more of a new wave secondary, synthpop as the lone primary because, what is this? i kinda like it but if i had lost all access to will wood, of montreal and radiohead, well for one id be sad as hell, and for two id be listening to oingo boingo, which is like if this was more will-wood-esque and sillier, and i would get through the backlogged stuff at a rate not known to man, i certainly wouldn't put this on, because a knowledge of how talking heads sounds beyond the hits (by that i mean listening to remain in light and stop making sense in full) is maybe gonna help me appreciate this more, although the sub 3.00 friend rating doesn't really make me think thats true. anyways back to the music the fuck was i on saying "oh oh this aint new wave" this is new wave and ok new wave at that. I do feel like the less new wave sounding tracks are the worse ones. Overall it was fine nothing id come back to but i still enjoyed it enough.

this was really good, at the start it opened with this killer bass, and the echo on the vocals were both awesome. its some really good indie rock, and i think if i got more acquainted with it (im gonna have to, its 30 songs) it could be my album of the year for '95. A lot of the transitions between songs are really smooth, it reminds me of since i left you in that way. It is really good, it reminds me a lot of surf curse, i should really check out a full album of theirs at some point. A lot of these songs are incredibly short (1-2 minutes), and god dammit! ive already made that exact blid joke about love at the bottom of the sea bro. This album does share a lot of genetics with love at the bottom of the sea, it has similar vocals, similar guitar. I think thats the only features ive been noticing which is odd given theres a drum on the cover.

Rejoicing In The Hands
Devendra Banhart
im pleasantly surprised by it being folk, (ephrath will kill me if i dont like it though). its fine, i might jus rate it a 3 and move on with my life. Im happy its as short as it id given im writing this review from the rate yr previous album page due to oversleeping and waking up at like 7PM with like an hour to do the project. It lowkey gets better as it keeps going. Will os my friend has a cool title (will wood reference?????), its also a good song but thats less important. yeah this is a three if ive ever seen one (3.5 on rym). looking at the cover it kinda reminds me of Mahashmashana in a good way (can that be done in a bad way?). overall its fine when i said 3.5 i really meant three.

Well this band clearly isnt the worst one in the world. Theyre pretty good, tracks like the wall street shuffle have this awesome piano instrumental, im surprised the playcount drops so dramatically going to down 8 million. this sounds like quintessential mid 2000s surf rock, the worst band in the world has an awesome riff, and some of those thingys that you shake and they make like a cymbal noise (google was of no help in my search for what these things are actually called best i got was a sound effects pack with 'shaker percussion' which if that is what this is called then i'll be damned). And its followed by a track that sounds really odd and then it goes to like this kinda like tropical type sound (writing is clearly my best subject (that was serious im in like the 98th percentile last i checked)). I just noticed how miracle musical core all of this sounds. i mean this in the most positive way one can mean this it sounds exactly like a tally hall side project mixed with bill wurtz. This sounds like if everything that had to do with tally hall was ever so slightly bunglecore (not very, and when i say that i mean california, i rarely listen to it but i remember it better then disco volante). Somewhere in hollywood is a really interesting track, its a commentary on well y'know hollywood (they outdo csh (thats easy though), and it sounds so good that the subject of the track can almost be ignored because its just easy to vibe to, actually a lot of these are really easy to vibe to. overall its a really good record, id listen to this again, although knowing me that means anything from i listen to this in full consistently to i will never listen to this again.

Rufus Wainwright
this sounds like background music to an episode of ninjago. He kinda sounds like will toledo, this is actually really interesting, like its fine but im interested moreso in how this progresses and seeing if it becomes smth better then this then how to rank it on a numerical scale 1-10. Actually, wait this is really good, that string instrement ad his vocals, this'll be a good time if it progresses this way. im sorry fuck you mean they change genres for the second track to an art pop song, and its better then the one before it?? why does that keep happening its happened twice in the past two songs. I got really distracted, but oh my god he sounds like thom yorke, in fact a lot of this sounds like radiohead, even down to the part where radiohead (like a lot of things i like) makes me incredibly tired, i read one of the comments and this is jus gay thom yorke. Its very pretty (pretty enough to lie to one could say). Overall i liked it i can't really say i could come up with a numeriacal score, though thats kinda a compliment because i feel like paying attention to the artsyness is not smth i do that often because theres a little guy in my head like yeah this is a 4.5 and i think thats detracting from my music listening experience in some ways.

Beck
looks like im finally listening to beck, lets see if this is actually any good. And it is, this is sorta a surprise (i mean my friends parents that like most of what i like (except for will wood who they have no opinion on) like this guy). I've come back, just because the entire master of rhythm section is hilarious. i like the trombone that hes using for the last minute of the new pollution. The maracas at the start of derelict, a lot of this album has interesting instrument choices. I wasnt really paying too much attention cause i was too busy making breakfast (ignore that its like 10pm PDT as i write this), but overall i liked it, i wouldn't relisten to it though, it was kinda boring, i think that becks style woud be more suited to a shorter album in my opinion.

looking at the auto generated playlists this album is in doesnt fill me with hope, it more fills me with trepidation for what is next when twin fantasy finishes. I don't really think classic rock is for me, i haven't been a man from the sixties that runs a starship for that long (jim cites his fave band being queen (will shatner civered bohemian rhapsody but thats the closest thing i can find)). Like i can enjoy ac/dc enough, but this this is jus kinda like stale bread, its flavorless. I guess the riff in graveyard train was fine, this whole thing could be described in that one sentence, its like a good riff and then they forgor to make the rest good. overall it was fine, nothing id return to though.

Live At Leeds
The Who
its a live album for a band im not that into (and have managed to never conciously hear up til this point). its a betterr rock act then last time, i jus hope if i get them again i dont get a live album. The track listing is in the wrong order :/. other then that its pretty good. I can picture william shatner jamming out to these, and its kinda funny, just picutring captian kirk wearing his whatever people in the 60s thought the 22nd century headphones would look like listening to the who. given that this album is only 6 tracks (on rym which is my frame of reference for what amount of tracks an album should have) i dont have much to say because i didnt have much to hear. This wouldve been a good freebie if i was like 3-4 albums behind. overall i liked it. i feel like it didn't overstay its welcome, in fact i would've welcomed it for longer, it would be better if it were 45 minutes as opposed to a measly 36.

Live At The Witch Trials
The Fall
the guitar is really groovy, and goes great with the (possibly) a synth (idk what it is but it sounds great). Its all i could want from 70s punk really, thouh the monotony and repetitivity are not smth i really like and by god are they a lot of this album. Everything that makes this stuff so great live makes it kinda annoying to listen to in a space that isn't well, y'know a concert venue or a pub. This album really overstays its welcome, if this and that the who album traded lengths that would be benificial. I brought up the album i was listening to with people i know that are knowledgable about punk and they were like 'kirk what are you thinking, you aren't gonna enjoy the fall, thats pretty hard to get into' so that probably is part of the issue i have with it, given that this is one of the first times i have tried anything thats og punk since that one sex pistols song i played on guitar hero in april. Its kinda sad that the vocals break this album so much because otherwise we have some adequate drumming, some great bass, and some great guitar. Part of me was tempted to take off my headphones and bask in the unholy fusion of cute thing by car seat headrest and animals by maroon 5 i was tormented by on my bike ride home. overall it wasn't that great to me.
