Faust IV by Faust
Jun 23 2025

Inspired by the space they have to play and riff. Contiguous enough to stay engaged, but never any idea where we are in the track, and yet not bored out in a rush to find out

Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Jun 24 2025

Part of me wants so deeply to be Nick Cave. I can’t put my finger on the specific flavor of weird that he is, but his voice has a quality that sounds kitschy and over dramatic, but still reads as obviously genuine. He and the band lean into it and are all 100 on grit and pure explosive emotion coming from their instruments. Fucking love it. I was smiling and delighted the whole time.

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Jun 25 2025

Groundbreaking to the point that it sounds ridiculous and silly today. Work of genius responding to a generation trying to make up for being nazis. Also impressed by the humanization of drum machines at the early stage.

Murmur by R.E.M.
Jul 01 2025

Solid but doesn’t grab my attention at all.

Rust In Peace by Megadeth
Jul 02 2025

Almost boring because it’s so iconic.

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Jul 03 2025

Didn’t grab my attention, but I need to give it more time.

Permission to Land by The Darkness
Jul 09 2025

I can’t get behind his voice. About 20% of the time they hit a good grove. Then he comes out of the mix
