Different Class by Pulp

Brilliant album - five stars! Kicking myself for not getting in to Pulp more in the 90's although I always enjoyed the singles - this is going straight into my library. Great tunes and musicianship, thoughtful witty lyrics and that special quality that only the great artists have - Jarvis is a national treasure and its great to see them back with a new album too!

Fragile by Yes
Jun 22 2025

Since I started listening and buying Rock music (55 years ago) I have skirted around the prog bands without ever going fully in, loved Genesis and Jethro Tull at the time but don't revisit their music hardly at all these days. Yes passed me by, but I gave it a good go this morning - listening to 'Fragile" twice, there is a lot to admire in the sheer musicianship in the band but it didn't connect for me on a deeper level I am afraid. YES? sorry lads, but it's a NO for me!

The Cars by The Cars
Jun 24 2025

Brilliant - loved listening to this album! Fresh and inspiring punk/pop blend not a weak song on the album - going straight into my favourites collection!

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson
Jun 25 2025

Personally not a fan of this type of music or Willie Nelson but still enjoyed listening to this album. You can feel the soul and spirit in the music and I enjoyed the guitar and piano work so anyone can do worse than give up some time to listen to this fine work!

Different Class by Pulp

Brilliant album - five stars! Kicking myself for not getting in to Pulp more in the 90's although I always enjoyed the singles - this is going straight into my library. Peter Gabriel 3 by Peter Gabriel
Jun 30 2025

Bought this album back in the eighties and enjoyed it but didn't blow me away. Gave it another go and it feels a bit dated and none of the tracks stand out IMO. So would not describe it as a classic worthy of a high position in the chart - love Peter Gabriel but not one of his best - listen to SO instead!

Dated and dull - didn’t grab me at all - then and now!

The White Room by The KLF
Jul 04 2025

wasn't my bag 30 odd years ago and definitely not today! didn't manage to get past 1st track before I turned it off - sorry but no review!

Palo Congo by Sabu
Jul 07 2025

Gave it a go but gave up after a tortuous 10 minutes, not for me I am afraid!

Parklife by Blur
Jul 08 2025

Still sounds great after 30 years! One of my favourite Britpop bands delivering great sounds and clever witty lyrics. Love this album!

Heroes to Zeros by The Beta Band
Jul 09 2025

This band had passed under my radar, so I listened with an open mind and really enjoyed the album the music is unique and novel I am definitely going to give it another listen - but for now 4 stars!

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
Jul 12 2025

loved this album first time around and delighted to hear it sounding still so vibrant and fresh after all of these years! perhaps the finest from the Smiths - five stars!

Peggy Suicide by Julian Cope
Jul 13 2025

really enjoyed listening to this album, Julian had slipped past me at the time. some good tracks and a few very special on disc one, disc two made me feel like I wanted to be in a rave and enjoy some party chemicals. this album made it in to my personal library and i am awarding it five!

Achtung Baby by U2
Jul 28 2025

I did listen to all the early U2 albums and wanted to like them I guess, but they never made a lasting impression! This was one I liked more than the rest ENO always adds something extra to whoever he works with.

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Jul 29 2025

Funny how dated this album sounds today, thought I would enjoy listening to it again after all these years - but I didn’t! Nevertheless still regard Damon as one of our best and original artists.

Jul 30 2025

Really enjoyed listening to this album as it had passed me by when first released. Original and diverse it is packed full of brilliant sounds and thought provoking lyrics. Almost 5 stars !

The Hissing Of Summer Lawns by Joni Mitchell
Aug 07 2025

an incredibly beautiful album with incredible arrangements and beautiful story telling by Joni - was 5 stars in 1975 and 5 stars today!
