Bone Machine by Tom Waits
Jul 03 2025

What a start to the list... A lot of the tracks forgettable, but my favorites: -Who Are You -A Little Rain -In the Colosseum I see where there may be an audience for this but it wasn’t for me.

Music From Big Pink by The Band
Jul 04 2025

Again, not really my cup of tea. Whatever happened to synth pop? The computers have taken over my brain and I want my girly pop! Maybe this was a mistake… Also side note: I YouTubed “trippy imagery no sound” and clicked on a 3 hour video while this album was playing. This was of course after I drank a full bottle of Cabernet, smoked between 2-30 bowls, watched Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me and 1 episode of Big Brother US 1, so you can clearly see where my mind was at when I decided to put this on. Ok, all that said. There is clearly a lot of talent here. We clearly see some early country and blues influences. In my semi-inebriated state, I learned that The Band were essentially Bob Dylan’s backup band prior to this album’s release. Again, this isn’t my particular taste but I can definitely see an audience for this. I definitely can hear this as an influence of Allman Brothers, Poco, and similar acts/bands of that time period. Okay my instinct was correct! I thought I definitely heard Pink Floyd in this and it turns out they considered this album an influence! Nice, I feel justified. The second half of this album is so far slapping much harder than the first. I can see We Can Talk being played in a “flying car” sequence in a movie. Some of the imagery in this video I’m watching is kinda giving Art Spiegelman Maus….nothing to do with the album….moving on. Ok I’m kinda bored again. The Weight into We Can Talk was the Chromatica II I to 911 of its day. In all seriousness I really liked both of those songs and now I feel like we’re just kinda getting back into the same stuff that I wasn’t into in the beginning. These guys definitely strike me as an awesome live act. Ok. Album’s over. Ok again I see where there’s an audience for this but I’m not in that crowd. There were a few songs I liked but overall the album kinda bored me. Very Dad rock and I haven’t asked but I’m pretty sure my dad listened to this back in the day. Which reminds me, I forgot to call him back….fuck….

This was awesome. Some of the songs are a little long but this is an explosion of sound and talent. Love Prince.

Ramones by Ramones
Jul 07 2025

This album disappointed me. A lot of the songs sound the same. Blitzkrieg Bop still hits though.

The Band by The Band
