BEYONCÉ by Beyoncé
Jul 08 2025

I am not a dance/pop listener so my initial reaction to having to have to listen was closer to burdened than excited. I gave it my attention, though, and had to take a step back. The progressions are a little more complex than I expected and the lyrics dark, moody, brooding at times. There are strong sexual overtones to most songs and sometimes outright "gratuitous" lyrical content. I guess it was edgy at the time. A few songs reminded me of Drake circa Take Care and I think I heard a few samples or similar lyrics cited or copied. 1 - 10? I give it a 7. I think I will give it another listen, since I was fiddling with the new subwoofer I added to my sound system and had to step out at a couple of moments.

Different Class by Pulp

lovingly steeped in irony with a sardonic look at modern life bolstered by driving UK rock pop.

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits

Hot take: Mark Knopfler is the Bob Dylan for right wing conservatives. While his lyrics are not necessarily conservative leaning, although possibly in a classical sense or a Kennedy Democrat, the sound scape and content attracts a certain audience.

I have read all the lyrics I have heard all the notes But I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
