Solid Ray Charles. Big band arrangements that sound about as far from country and western as you can get. Strong closer with “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” but this album is plagued with the same corny white backup singers as his other Columbia records.

Aww. RIP Ozzy. He died yesterday, July 21st, 2025.

Gets a bit repetitive. A few strong standout tracks but overall I prefer Bon Scott.

OK Computer by Radiohead

It’s a fine album, but overrated. I respect their willingness to experiment, but I greatly prefer The Bends.

Great album. For me, his best.

Neil and Tim together is an unbeatable combo. Fantastic album across the board. Pop-rock with gorgeous melodies and harmonizing of a calibre only matched by luminaries such as the Beatles.

Liege And Lief by Fairport Convention

Solid British folk fit for the Renaissance Fair. Those who know Sandy Dennis from the Led Zeppelin connection will not be surprised by the beauty of her vocals, though the song arrangements and feel here tend more towards Judy Collins than “The Battle of Evermore.” Still there is the occasional banger like “Matty Groves” which collapses into a total frenzied guitar freak-out as it goes on.

This album was my first exposure to the Pogues. Bought it after seeing them performing “Body of an American” on Saturday Night Live. I couldn’t understand a word that was said but I loved their energy, their look, their sound, everything. Album did not disappoint and became the soundtrack of my autumn and winter that year. Cassette tape had the fun James Joyce collage cover.
