* Steve Winwoods band before Steve Winwood was being brought higher love * I saw this and for a first album I’m kind of glad we’re getting the late 60s done with one out at a time not a huge 60s rock guy * Guitar in this era is so self-indulgent most of the time * Also, a lot of electric piano not my favorite * Pearly queen is repetitive and it goes on for an eternity. I had more fun listening to “Are you waiting for the street car” that song rules even though it it’s incredibly repetitive by nature because it’s can * Feelin’ all right - I definitely hear some inspiration for ramble on actually just in general in Winwood’s stylings I I hear a lot of Led Zeppelin * Hell yeah, the wood block on Vagabond Virgin almost disguises the fucked up lyrics * Fighting impatience halfway through * 40,000 headman good narration likely very high * So much flute in the 60s! * Led Zeppelin + horse tranquilizers * Reminded I can’t stand harpsichord something about that Tinny twang * Pair that with the E piano and wow! I’m in sonic hell! * I get why this was a hit in its time, but it meanders so much (“no time to live”) * “means to an end” it’s currently playing in an 18 wheeler making good time on I 80 eastbound I guarantee it * Damn, I really was hoping that here we go round the Mulberry bush was just the nursery rhyme. the volume and mixing fucked on this track * GOOOO!!! Favorite song.

Pretty much all of their hits packed onto this one album. It’s a wild ride!

Incredible listen.

Rest in peace to the prince of darkness. Compared to contemporaries, I can see why metal was so groundbreaking back when this was released.

Decent listen. Pretty Beck through and through. The Golden Age is such a great track.

A lot of this didn’t age well. Felt like a slog in the first half until you get to the hits.

Very Velvet Underground forward, sounds rather timestuck with a sound from the previous 2 decades with some injections of more modern themes.

Easy listen. Cool concept behind Giant Sand as a collective musician group just jamming for 30+ years.

Eh. Two beck albums this early on?

Funky! Love that of the 30ish minutes of play time “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” is a third of them.

Unapologetically wild. Reminds me of my “edgy teen” years.

Solid, more of a Copperhead Road guy, but loved hearing some of Earle’s earlier music.

A bit of bias in my rating admittedly having been raised on Louis Prima. It evokes strong sentimental feelings of cooking at home with family and the warmth of being loved. Removing that as much as one can, it’s just good fun.

This album really is carried by its first and last two tracks, the middle felt like a sonic wasteland. As for those minutes of my life… they’re all wasted!

The Cars but they saw Sabbath one time and made an album based on that.

I get that for its time this was revolutionary and the “groundwerk” for a lot of modern music methodologies, but halfway through listening to this album I felt like I was at work watching the clock at 4pm on a Friday before a long weekend.

Nope.

Love me some goth new-wave. Some of the songs get a little long in the tooth. Overall up my alley.

Iggy Pop and the Stooges are great, but not a big fan of 60s/70s guitar.
