Black Sabbath
Black SabbathBlack Sabbath First song being called black sabbath on the album black sabbath by the band black sabbath. They ran out of names clearly. 4 minute mark is so sick, the guitars launching pay off Ozzy’s annoying singing. The wizard Ozzy’s voice is significantly less annoying in this song. Guitar tone is really sick in this track. At around 2:20 there’s a singular cowbell, it was almost comedic to me idk why. Behind the Wall of Sleep Intro sounds a lot like something from Fontaines dc’s dogrel, cool to see the influence this band had. N.I.B Main riff is gas, this is iron man before iron man. Tony Iommi’s guitar work is insane. I feel like a recurring theme of this album is Ozzy cramming in as many syllables as possible into each line. Evil Woman, Don’t Play Your Games With Me First song on the album where the bass really stands out to me, the tone is like a Beatle bass but he’s punching the strings for every note. Sleeping Village Drum work on the whole album is sick. The grooves are all really dialled. The spring in the intro is also really comedic, must be a sign of the times. Warning Personally I like a Longer song, this however drags unnecessarily. As opposed to having captivating sequences, it feels like the song was copy and pasted twice over. Wicked World Enjoyable outro to a good album overall. The music may not hold up amazingly however there is no denying the influence this band had on the scene at the time.
