Gorillaz
GorillazClint Eastwood is a classic but there weren’t many other songs that matched my taste. 5/4 and Tomorrow Comes Today were ok.

10/10. Only 7 songs but there are no skips.
Funkadelic. I feel like I should have longer hair while listening to this. He’s the Greatest Dancer is a disco jam and Thinking of You has some good guitar chucky going on. Obviously We Are Family is a hit on this one too.
Definitely sounds like 2007. Not really for me but North America Sun was good in Step Brothers. Us v. Them and Time to Get Away were other good ones. The whole album had a uniform and solid sound but the whole thing just felt too long. The themes were overplayed and repetitive. 56 minutes divided by nine songs equals over six minutes each. Those are long songs. The shortest song is almost four minutes, which is about the right length for an average song.
Some slow jams in here for sure. Sir Duke and I Wish pick up the tempo. Pastime Paradise led to the great Gangsta’s Paradise by Coolio and Amish Paradise by Weird Al. Isn’t She Lovely is a really sweet song about his daughter. I like the whole sound of the double album but the lyrical portion is over in the middle of the song. After that it’s just instrumental jams, which isn’t terrible from someone named Stevie Wonder. It does get a bit long though.
I cheered out loud when I revealed this album today. Johnny Cash. The. Man. In. Black. This is probably as close to perfect as you can get. The Man Comes Around has been used for so many movies. He sang Hurt so well that Trent Reznor said the song was his now. Johnny Cash gives a new voice to some classic and contemporary songs. Desperado with Don Henley is a good tune too.
Not really for me. This would fit better in the background at a coffee shop than dedicated listening. There are a few good tunes but honestly, I wasn’t pulled enough to look at the track name when it happened.
Great album. The whole thing feels like I’m in a 90s house party. I’ll never forget “Right Here Right Now” in the 2002 hit Big Fat Liar. Overall, good songs but some get a little drawn out at times.
Sounds very 2007. I couldn’t tell if it was a unique sound or just the pop version of the “ho-hey” Mumford songs of the time.
The whole album has a peppy feel. Even while the lyrics are about a criminal getting shot and stabbed in the street, it makes you want to dance around.
This album captures the sound of the time perfectly. The guitars and drums chugging along to the screeching vocal of Alice Cooper cut through any speaker setup. It felt weird playing “School’s Out” in August instead of May. 3
Great Bowie album. Changes is good. DB - Gone too soon.
Not for me at all. Hectic and random sounds paired with shouting in German.
Pretty good rock album. I never listened to this band before, but I’ll definitely check out more of them.
Solid rock album with guitars and vocals front and center. Drums keep everything moving.
Clean pop sound. Don’t think I heard a single song in a major key on the whole album.
Only half the album was available on Spotify but that’s all I needed. Boring soundscapes with no traditional song structure.
Classic album from an early British Metal legend.
Good album. Nothing too adventurous.
Otis Redding has an incredible voice. Definitely gone too soon. He sings with a heart and energy that I haven’t heard from anyone else.
Classic voice with good blues/rock vibes.
Felt like I should be listening to this at a skatepark.
