I consider fitty a guilty pleasure like so very much of the genre. The reality of his backstory does nothing to make me feel better about it; if anything its veracity makes it more disturbing: misogyny, guns, and violence are praised so broadly. Why? And then there’s PIMP.

Enjoy the beats, some very creative. Very hard for me to get past the misogyny and the guns and the drugs. I understand the social origins of the content, but decry the sensationalism/wallowing.

Such a fabulous stew. I don’t love everything in it, but I love the everything that it is. I saw him play once pretty late in his career. He faced the back of the stage for most of the performance, but it was pretty magical nonetheless.
