Lost In The Dream by The War On Drugs

i didn't so much listen to this album as i *felt* this album. the daydreamy reverb throughout had me floating in nostalgia from start to finish, and i found myself not wanting each song to end. incredible vibes, this was added to my collection immediately.

Don't Stand Me Down by Dexys Midnight Runners

a great singing voice horribly wasted on the british. the instrumentals set a good chill vibe but it's constantly ruined by the vocals. how do you have that voice and that vocal control and you use it to do... whatever this was? and is making albums of casual conversation over nonoffensive backing music what men did before they invented podcasts? normally i'm all for experimental music and concept albums, but i wouldn't count this among the "must listens".

this feels like the kind of album that would have changed my brain chemistry if i'd heard it at age 14. at 29, it mostly just changed my mood by being fun to listen to. was it a perfect album? maybe not, but it was well made and a good time, and sometimes that's exactly what you need. really liked this one!

Ten by Pearl Jam

the first part of this album was every road trip i've ever taken with my dad. sitting in the passenger seat of his pickup truck, cruising down the highway at very legal speeds, listening to the classic rock station as i watched the trees fly by out the window. unlike my dad on a road trip, this album seemed to get lost partway through and started meandering through the neighborhoods, never really getting back into that fun highway groove. it was a good album, there weren't any songs i disliked, but at some point i started wanting to get out of the car.

how the hell do you rate an album like this?? it was certainly different and it did make me think. i see the vision, parts of it were actually good-as-in-well-made. i'm never listening to this again.

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Aug 18 2025

chill/ambient electronica my beloved! i love this sci-fi vibe, wild it's from 1978. in my next life if they are not playing the man-machine (song) during the mars space station daily morning yoga i am getting OFF the ship!!!

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
Aug 19 2025

i'll admit i've never been a soul/r&b girlie, but the vibes here are undeniable.

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Aug 20 2025

the beats were good but why does this man talk about his balls so much

The Score by Fugees
Aug 21 2025

not my usual fare but i know fire when i hear it.

Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Aug 22 2025

the music was good but i think i just don't care for live albums... i'm sorry deep purple it's not you it's me

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
Aug 23 2025

god damn! this was a journey i enjoyed the whole way through. a smorgasbord of sound that never got smorgasboring. vibes both chill and spicy. yet somehow it still feels like a coherent album. incredible. 100% listening to this next time i get stoned

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel
Aug 24 2025

i was excited when this album showed up as the daily pick, i'd (obviously) heard of it and i love a good, weird, folksy sound. i'm sure this was amazing for the time, but... some of these songs were genuinely annoying. i think i just don't like the vocals. i see what they were going for but it's like oil and water. the components are not mixing.

Djam Leelii by Baaba Maal
Aug 25 2025

truly vibes are the universal language of the human race

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Aug 26 2025

the jams are undeniable, but all the vocal talent and sick 80s beats in the world will not excuse you from horny jail.

Elastica by Elastica
Aug 27 2025

no, it's not reinventing the wheel, but it doesn't have to be cutting edge to be a good time. just a plain fun listen.

School's Out by Alice Cooper
Aug 28 2025

i did not expect a rock album made by theater kids to be on here, but fuck dude that's exactly what this was. what a weird album.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Sep 08 2025

it takes one hell of an artist to make a 10 minute long banger that doesn't get bogged down or lost on the way. also hot summer night is one of the songs ever. good shit mr. loaf

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Sep 11 2025

weird dark 80s sound. like the 80s but evil (positive)
