Popular Reviews

Want One by Rufus Wainwright

Sounds like musical theatre kid music. I can’t think of one scenario where I’d want to listen to this. While not technically bad, it’s somehow bombastic and boring at the same time. It feels like “pick me” music.

Younger Than Yesterday by The Byrds
Aug 29 2025

Great album but not as great as Sweetheart at the Rodeo. The weird voice in CTA-102 is a nice touch.

Revolver by Beatles
Aug 30 2025

Classic. Some really great well known songs and a some awesome less known, like “Doctor Robert.” Not my favorite Beatles album though.

Everything Must Go by Manic Street Preachers
Aug 30 2025

Sounds like what a punk on Dawson’s Creek would listen to. Kind of boring 90s alterna-slop.

Achtung Baby by U2
Aug 31 2025

It’d probably be cooler for me to think that this album sucks, but it just works to well as background music. U2 undeniably knows how to write a catchy tune. I think eventually they will be re-evaluated as not cheesy, or good cheesy at the very least.

Hotel California by Eagles
Sep 02 2025

The hits are definitely hits, but then songs like “Wasted Time” feel like, well, wasted time. And there are more wasted time moments than hits.

Casanova by The Divine Comedy
Sep 03 2025

This is going to be a long 1001 albums with stuff like this.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Sep 04 2025

One of the greatest metal albums of all time. Absolutely love it.

Rio by Duran Duran
Sep 06 2025

Not sure if I ever listened to this album all the way through before, but I feel like I’ve heard every song here 1000 times. I guess Duran Duran has dug itself deep into the collective unconscious. Album cover looks like something I would’ve seen in a salon in 1992. The bassist on this record is really good.

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Sep 07 2025

Here’s my review for Duran Duran’s Rio which I listened to and reviewed the day before ZZ Top’s Eliminator. The same review applies and any changes are in brackets: Not sure if I ever listened to this album all the way through before, but I feel like I’ve heard every song here 1000 times. I guess [ZZ Top] has dug itself deep into the collective unconscious. Album cover looks like something I would’ve seen in a salon in 1992.

Want One by Rufus Wainwright
Sep 08 2025

Sounds like musical theatre kid music. I can’t think of one scenario where I’d want to listen to this. While not technically bad, it’s somehow bombastic and boring at the same time. It feels like “pick me” music.

Rust Never Sleeps by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Sep 09 2025

Neil has never completely clicked with me, but this is a great record. The last half is better than the first half, and the distortion on the closing track is great.

Why in the hell is this on this list? If I died right after hearing this I’d be a pissed off dead guy. I take back what I said about them not being cheesy in my Achtung Baby review. This version of U2 sucks. This album is instantly forgettable.

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
Sep 11 2025

The backstory makes this album more interesting, but even without knowing it, this is a great album. I’m actually learning piano, so this is definitely inspirational.
