Not feeling this one to much. I get that punk is played fast and loose but this was just a little too fast and a little too loose. While there were tracks I liked I didn't really feel too much variety between songs. Could be a grower but for now I gotta say 3/5.
I really don't know enough about jazz to fully comprehend this album. I really like when the trumpets go wah wah. I can clearly see some interesting choices like the acoustic guitar on track 3. Could grow on me with further Jazz education 3/5
Good stuff but didn't click fully.. Smack My Bitch up is a classic and this listen I really latched onto Narayan. I see the genre influence but if I'm craving some breaks I'd go somewhere else. Another album with the caveat that it could grow on me over time 3/5
That saxophone🔥! Interesting to hear a concept album that reflects on fame and the music industry in this way while also being such a heartfelt send up to a fellow band member. Wish You Were Here and pts I-V have been favorites but Welcome to the Machine stood out to me a lot this time. Have a Cigar is fun but probably my least favorite on the album.
I could listen to the title track One Nation Under A Groove forever. I think Funkadelic could too that's why they cut it off so abruptly after 7 minutes of ontological funk perfection. That live version of Maggot Brain Insane I wish I could've been around to see Funkadelic in concert.
Wow what a great album. Honestly having a really tough time rating this. I prefer yesterday's One Nation Under a Groove but this complimented it excellently. On the first listen I enjoyed but didn't think much but over the day I kept returning to it and loving it more. Gotta give this a 4/5
This album did not do much for me. It wasn’t a bad listen but none of the songs stuck out to me. Better than the hives but still suffers from a lack of variety
Not my type of dad rock. Maggie May is an awesome song though
Failure of numeric rating systems as I enjoyed this a lot more than most of my 3 star albums but not as much as most of my 4 star albums. But yeah this is some great stuff
Doesn't quite do it for me. Highway star is cool; liked lazy a lot. I just don't get anything from this album that I can't get from other places.
I really want to "get" this album. I really want to "get" R.E.M. Not that its by any means bad but I just don't love it like I see other people do and I kinda want to. I liked The One I Love and Exhuming McCarthy ... and of course The End of the World As We Know.
Four stars! but also I realized that I shouldn't be too stingy about giving a five star so by this extent I would re-rate Good Kid M.A.A.D City, One Nation Under a Groove, and Wish You Were Here as five star albums.
This album owns but honestly there are some songs I don't really like that stop it from being 5 stars. If you cut this down just a bit I'd be pretty perfect for me. Fav tracks: Theresa's Sound World, Shoot, Wish Fulfillment, On the Strip.
Morrissey 👎but this album pretty alright I'd put it on par with my less loved Smiths albums
Good atmosphere to this album. Didn't fully click with me but I could come around on it more with more listens. Last half was really solid. Sultans of Swing is always a classic
very pleasant but I that's all I've got
